Has anyone ever been to Snead's? I've lived near there for over 10 years and never stopped in, but I never hear them mentioned when discussing BBQ joints.

I've been, but not since the late 80s, early 90s. At one time their burnt ends [they call 'em brownies] were the best in the city. It's good, but they lost out to Keegans [pre going downhill, gettting bought out, going out of business, coming back and whatever else has happened to them] which was just a couple miles further down the road.

Don't remember any bad meals at Sneads, but it's been too long to have any firm memories beyond that.

As for the topic header, sorry guys, I may have gone over to the dark side, wiled by Bandana's charms. Jack Stack is a great splurge, but Bandanas has given me too many reliably great, economical, meals at this point.

Tough call for me. If I'm looking for a sit-down "nice" joint, it's gotta be Jack Stack. But I end up at OK Joe's more because I'm typically feeling more casual and their fries are the best GD thing I have ever tasted. Next to their brisket, of course.

I love the great ones, any of them, Bryants, Gates, on and on. But one of my favorites that doesn't get mentioned much is Wyandotte BBQ. I especially love their beef sandwich, their hot fries wrapped in wax paper, and a bottle of RC. I'm especially nostalgic for their State Avenue location. Very consistent food.
