Just ate at Golden Corral for the first time

Golden Corral is a factory of sadness. Hordes of the morbidly obese stuffing down gigantic portions of food. I think I'm gonna be sick.

On the plus side, the food wasn't awful. I enjoyed my mashed potatoes.

Golden Corral almost neck and neck with Nickelback in terms of over the top fake hatred.

You guys go to these Chinese buffets who routinely flunk health code violations and then you hate on GC.

To be clear, Ive eaten at GC likee 4 times in my life, but it wasnt like it was disgusting or anything. Just basic buffet food meant to be economical.

Man, I was bored a couple of weekends ago and went by there just for the nostalgia on an afternoon. The entire arcade/pool area is closed up and locked. There is a small little nook with a couple of games and an air hockey machine by the snack bar now. I felt a part of my youth and teen years die just seeing all the video games and pool tables missing from back there. Would love to know just how much money I poured into those machines over the years, and just how many times I heard "Back in Black" while playing pool.

Well that is depressing. I get that arcades don't really have any need to exist anymore, but yeah, such a part of my youth.

For me, the song was "Rock you like a Hurricane." I remember for a year or so, they used to have a jukebox that had a big screen that would play the video. I seem to remember the Scorpions and Duran Duran constantly playing.

I remember when GC was a steakhouse like Sirloin Stockade, Western Sizzling or Pondegrossa. Just never ate there we hit Pondegrossa in Liberty pretty hard though. I went with my wife bout 6 years ago to GC in Leas Summit to drop her off to a friend hers birthday party for her kid. I went in said my hellos scanned the freak show going on around me the left hit a sports bar and watched the TV there and waited her call to go home. My kids loved Old Country Buffet then Later Home Town Buffet. It folded and I secretly did a back flip in joy.
