What if's of the season...

1. Travis Kelce is the breakout tight end of the year.

2. Mike Catapono and Dee Ford prove to be monsters, perhaps combining for 15 sacks.

3. Abdullah or Commings play even just a little better than Kendrick Lewis.

4. D-Bowe plays like he did vs. Indy, more times than not.

5. Cooper plays like he did last year, and improves vs. Manning. (can't be worse..)

6. Smith/Jamaal/DJ/Houston/Hali/Berry/Poe stay healthy and good.

7. DAT replaces DMC, and then some.

8. The interior OL impresses. (I like Fulton)

9. Bailey/Walker get push that T-Jax never could.

10. and finally, Fisher steps up.

Obviously not all of these are going to occur, but if most or even half do... what should we expect this season? I just want a damn playoff win. The FO is making the team they want, lets see it work for once.

If anything the Chiefs will be fielding a worse team next year.
We'll see. I only see two question mark holes that were formed by players who left this offseason: Branden Albert and Brandon Flowers. We stand a very good chance at equaling Flowers' production with a different player. That leaves only Albert, which... yeah, I've already said enough this offseason. Not going there again.

In the meantime, we're absolutely getting upgrades to replace TJack, Lewis, Robinson, and Fisher (due to position switch, but it's still an upgraded position to take into account). I'd also wager money that we won't see a drop off at all in replacing McCluster and Asamoah.

Yes, that's right. McCluster's biggest asset to the team last year was consistency as a 3rd down and short-midrange possession receiver. Those don't grow on trees, but they're not impossible to find, either. And I'm not worried AT ALL about a dropoff in kick return efficiency. Dave Toub is a goddamn genius. He could put Mike DeVito out there as our kick returner and still a TD at some point in the season. And at RG, Asamoah played like AIDS most of the year. While Schwartz was nice to have, I don't really see any reason why we can't get that same level out of ONE of the following dudes: Fulton, Johnson, Linkenbach, Watkins, or even (Otis) Hudson.

That might be sunny, but I'm not exactly predicting Super Bowl here. All I'm saying is the whole "lost a lot of players" angle is kind of bogus. We lost ONE player, and the other iffy one (Flowers) was a roster cut.

It is sunny.

I get the reasoning for cutting a 26 year old CB in his prime and replacing him with a rookie. Gaines fits their new scheme and the Hunt's don't like spending big money.

I don't get a draft approach that brings in rookies to replace, or sit in waiting to replace, proven starters. This may go back to the Hunts aversion to spending money.

Wait, now I get letting Albert go because they drafted his replacement the year before and the Hunts don't like to spend money.

I'm starting to see a trend here...

Some day they might draft a decent replacement for Donnie Avery or AJ Jenkins but you'll have wait until their contracts are looming.

They may even draft to replace Husain Abdullah or Sanders Commings.

If Avery, Jenkins, Abdullah and Commings all shit the bed they won't need to be replaced because they can be re-signed on the cheap.

Makes you wonder, don't it.

The Hunt's don't spend money? There's a reason we couldn't resign any of those guys. We have no fucking cap space dude. Before Flowers we had like 1 million.

Gaines isn't doing shit this year. He's going to have to beat out Smith, Cooper, Parker, and Owens to get any meaningful snaps beyond stuff in dime packages, and even then the Chiefs are going to look to add a guy like Commings in addition to Abdullah and Berry before they put Gaines on the field.

Also, that's cute that you think Flowers is in his prime. I'll tell you who's being the sunny ass in this conversation, and it ain't me.

I was going to say, "That's a pretty sorry state of affairs. If Gaines can't beat out Parker or Owens then why waste a 2nd on him?"

Then I remembered he was taken in the 3rd. The Chiefs didn't have a 2nd.

You know Sutton's scheme in combination with the contract is what let Flowers land in America's Finest City.

Odd timing though...

The cap is expected to make big jumps in the next couple of seasons, to the tune of up to $160m by 2016, according to some reports.

You people who think the cap is some raging menace forget what it was like before the new CBA kicked in and put a temporary brake on things.
