I bought $700 worth of CB2 furniture for $60 off Craigslist this week. There was an entire stainless steel kitchen set (fridge/microwave/dishwasher/stove) for $500 on there too..Furniture gets beat up... buy used. Same with cars..depreciating assets are a shit investment. I bought my couch/chair off CL too...was almost $2000 at Crate and Barrel..got the set for $400 in great shape.

People around here aren't posting up CB2 furniture on CL, unfortunately.

It's interesting..I was thinking about that. I live in a huge city. There is a ton of money flying around..and people move or redecorate. CL is an awesome resource here...in smaller areas..probably not so much.

We have Scott City Trader on facebook. Rarely is there anything sold there for more than $20. You can fill up a mansion sized house with absolute dogshit in a hurry though.

Hope you don't have to. Buy a decent sized area rug. Those are ridiculous.

In So Cal Craigslist it is more of a site for people to re-sell items they buy and clean up from a garage sale and try to sell as like new. It has rendered the site useless to me. Sellers are so cheap that they price an item on Ebay an charge the same price so they don't have to pay the Ebay/Paypal fees. |

Craigslist. Pocket. Buying new furniture is crazy. Except for the bed, of course, and even then, we are just talking the mattress. I found my dining room table in front of a dumpster. LOL. Sand, stain, polyurethane. BeTter than new: $15. |

I'm in the same boat, but I live on the Kansas side, so my state taxes are ZERO. Regardless of political affiliation, and the long-term outcome of that tax structure, it's still pretty nice, because self-employment tax at the federal level can hurt pretty bad.
