MMQB INSIDE 49ers Draft, with KC info
Cool article:
http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/05/01/s...er-peter-king# "At one point discussion turned to the rest of the first round. Peters heard reliably that Kansas City, picking 27th, was moving way up to Tennessee at five. Presumably for a quarterback. “I hear it’s for a one, two, four and next year’s one,” Shanahan said. “They offered that to Tennessee.” Said Shanahan: “The only other guy that I can think of that they would really need would be Leonard Fournette. Would that be possibly worth that?” “Don’t think so,” Lynch said. “That doesn't fit Andy [Reid]'s style, I don't think, a big back.” |

Dorsey mentioned he was working on a bunch of deals. That must have been one of them. Guess he was worried about the Jets and Chargers trying to get Mahomes at 6 and 7? Worked out pretty damn well for him in the end.

Peter King did a really good job writing that 49ers story. Surprised he didn't try to fit in a Patriots/Belichick/Brady reference somewhere in there.
49ers top 3 players on their board were Myles Garrett, Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster. They didn't have a chance for Garrett and they landed the other 2. They were also prepared to take Foster at pick #3 if the Bears would have taken Thomas. Nice job by them. |

Shanahan is a flaming dumb****.
Fournette? Go lose another Super Bowl with your playcalling you dipshit. You made Andy Reid look like a clutch genius in that game. |

By the way, Tennessee turning down that trade offer and then reaching on a small school receiver who didn't run the 40 at the Combine? That might be as bad of a decision as the Bears giving up so much to draft Trubisky.

Meanwhile, I will say that I like the moves John Lynch is making. Seems to be doing a reasonable job of team-building.

It does show you how bad KC wanted Mahomes. From everything I've seen since the draft, it was New Orleans who had KC worried, not the Texans. Also interesting that it was apparently the Browns who "leaked" the info about wanting Trubisky in an attempt to draw a trade market for Garrett with the first.

Maybe the Chiefs were actually higher on Trubisky and had something on the table for them in case he was available, but how could Tennessee have said no to that? |

Reid and Dorsey also said they were nervous during the early part of the Draft because they weren't sure if someone else might take him. At one point I remember there was some smoke about the Chargers and Jets both liking Mahomes. Chiefs dodged those bullets and were fortunate enough to have the Bills agree to the trade. |

I wonder if the Bills trade with the Chiefs had anything to do with the GM getting canned?
