Geno Smith vs Alex Smith - It's on.

It's on now. Geno Smith is probably going to be starting for the Jets this season.

Alex Smith will be the Chiefs QB for the forseeable future. If he's a success, we'll probably get five good years out of him.

So who's gonna win more NFL games over that time period?

Put your ten pounders on the table and make a vote

Alex: 11 wins
Geno: 8 wins

Dude a wordsmith you are, but you DON'T KNOW D!CK ABOUT QB's!
Patteu doesn't have enough time to white knight all the people that wanted to draft Geno, therefore this is a terrible idea.

And yes, I wanted Geno drafted here. So far, that looks like it would have been a real mistake, even if playing in New York for that sinking franchise isn't doing him any favors.

Think about what you JUST said. He had a new playbook to learn EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS FIRST FOUR YEARS in the league.

Its hard enough for a qb coming out of college to learn ONE play book. Now he has to do it every single year?

This is my problem with Alex Smith haters. They refuse to understand how and why great nfl franchises, STAY GREAT.

Continuity. Now, I don't know who you are on the 49ers board, but im sure that when I brought up this point about how and why players like Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, and up until last year Big Ben, had been qbs that thrived year in and year out.

It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that the minute Bruce Arians left Pittsburgh that the Steelers didn't make the playoffs.

Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, have had the same systems their entire career.

Hell, Peyton Manning has had the same system his entire career. Even now in Denver.

What, you don't think that having Jim Harbaugh since day one is a huge help to Kaepernick?

Come on. The situations for both guys, are, and were terrible.

Neither Nolan, nor Rex Ryan believe that a qb is as important as the rest of the league knows.

it still seems odd that people are swooning over Geno Smith....he's struggling in NY and last nights debacle didn't help to give anyone hope, especially that absolute brain-fart of a safety.

The funny thing is, he wasn't really highly sought after once he went thru the Combine. He didn't set himself apart from any of the other QB's and then to see him fall like he did should speak for itself.

He may very well be a decent QB a few years down the road but he was nowhere near someone we should have spent either a 1st or 2nd round draft pick on.

You may be right.

But isn't that about as stupid as calling his career after a couple of pre-season games?

Both things (swooning/detracting) are based on shit that has not even happened yet.

And I'm not shitting on Alex Smith here. I'm really not.
Not making a big thing of this, but there is either intellectual dishonesty or straight ignorance flowing here.

Continue reading or don't... but if you want to know what's what? Then continue on...

Alex's rookie season was no doubt abysmal.. that much is true. Terrible personnel and novice and horrid HC.. 20 year old Urban Meyer QB getting thrown out on the field in a WCO run by a 1st year OC.

Alex had a pretty solid 2nd year with Norv Turner as 1st yr OC. It was even better than the 2nd year put up by HOF-er Troy Aikman, and Troy had a much better team supporting him. Norv departs when offered a HC job... ****!!!

Alex's year 3 was going okay, considering that Jim Hostler was the new OC... ask any SF fan and they laugh and cry about that turd.... SF was 2-1... that loss being @ Pittsburgh. Then in game 4, Alex got the separated shoulder vs the Hawks. Then, Alex was goaded by his HC to get back out there and play a month later... that did not go well, and everyone could tell that Alex was throwing with a damaged shoulder. Hostler is fired for being the turd he was.

In year 4, Nolan brought in Mike Martz.. and Martz brought in "his guy" J.T. O'Sullivan. While there was a QB competition, it was not an even one, as Alex's shoulder was heading for surgery #2... a wire was accidentally left in his shoulder and was sawing through the bone with each pass attempt. Oops. He went to I.R. before the first regular season game.

In the late part of year 4 while Alex was on I.R... O'Sullivan was yanked out for poor play and in came Shaun Hill. Martz was struggling as OC and SF brought in Ted Tollner to "assist" with the playcalling. So Shaun Hill did a pretty decent job in spot duty... mostly playing vs crap defenses, IIRC.

Because Hill did fairly well.. and because Singletary.. now the HC.. was an offense-impaired moron, he let Hill take the reins. Hill became remarkably ineffective once defenses had his number.. so in comes Alex around late Oct.. He steps in and does well in some games.. in others, just okay.. a couple of stinkers in there.. but again, this is a crap Singletary offense of predictability.

2010 kicks in, and there are still lots of underwhelming games from Alex... still crap offensive coaching and predictable ineptitude gameplanning. So the OC gets fired after week 4. QB coach Mike Johnson gets his 1st crack at the OC job... It's week 5 @ Philly... and it's going very ugly... but this is the game where Alex just shuts out the boos and the inner pressure... and he starts turning things for the better.

There were some games during this season where Alex was out due to injury... so Troy Smith got the nod. Defenses were typically unprepared for this and Troy had a couple of decent games. After two decent games, he really started spiraling... and Singletary was late in making the change back to Alex. Singletary was on the hot seat and was panicking.. QB carousel in full. Since that time back in week 5 @ Philly, Alex was looking like a pretty good and consistent (as reasonably consistent as QBs are) quarterback.

2011.. Harbaugh and Co. take over... they want Alex back to bridge the gap and turn their franchise into a winner. He does... not with big production, but by being efficient and safe.. but making enough plays to allow for wins.

So after 4 horrible possessions that all end in punts, he has a nice drive to finish the half and now everyone thinks he is the answer.

Quite comical.

I'm saying he wasn't worth a #1 or #2 pick.....it's pretty evident that we weren't the only team to think that.

Intellectual dishonesty? Sounds like you agree with me

Geno Smith is a rookie, is he not? He's on a shitty team, is he not? He's raw and not ready, is he not? He has a shit coach, does he not? That's an almost EXACT comparison to Alex Smith

And no, who could possibly give a shit about 49ers history during their awful Allen/Singletary years? Your version of "setting the record straight" is a lot of bargaining for the middle of the two ends. It doesn't really work against the notion that Alex Smith was benched for two mediocre QBs. And it's a huge waste of time for everybody.

You know, you could learn a thing or two about fitting in from Maverick. Since the huge fail thread, he's been able to talk about a wide variety of topics and nearly all things Chiefs-related. And when he does talk Alex Smith, he doesn't post long-winded and pointless historical narratives about the ****ing 49ers.

That's what we're trying to get through you 49er fans' ****ing skulls. We're just as knowledgeable about football as you guys, and we can make judgements about players for our goddamned selves. We don't need dipshits like you to lead us by the hand and orientate us to being a fan of a team QBed by Alex Smith. We don't need you talking about your 49er garbage in an effort to try and sound smart. Nobody cares.

Just shut the **** up or quit being an incorrigible ****tard, please.
