Lets talk about beds

My relationship went down the shitter and she gets to keep bed so I need one. Looks like foam/latex mattresses seem to be the way to go now. I'm looking at ordering one from an online only place so I can't test it out before hand so i'm just looking for some perspective.

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on an amerisleep colonial foam mattress

Anyone here have any input on Amerisleep or any other foam type mattress brand?

We got the king. Looking back I should have got 2 Queens and pushed them together, but it's still badass.

They are all foam or pillow topped. You can order them but I don't like spending that much without being able to test it out.

At this point, we are seriously considering a shikibuton (Japanese bed). It's basically a 3-4" thick cotton mat so it seems like it would really work well.
I'd have been skeptical as well. How in the world did you ever adjust to that?

And that Japanese bed sounds awful. Like a prison matress.

OP, my wife and I use the Vera Wang line of foam mattress from Serta. It's very comfortable. It sleeps a little warm, though.

We are firm mattress sleepers as well. Nothing better, especially since I'm a stomach sleeper.

It doesn't bother you sleep on a Wang? On a warm Wang? A soft, warm Wang?

I love it. If I'm away from home for a few days, laying down on my mattress when I get home just feels amazing. Soft mattresses just tear my back up.

The coldest night of my life was spent trying to sleep on an unheated waterbed. It was summer, too, but that thing just sucked the heat right out of you.

Good luck!

Hang in there.

Costco sells foam topper. Try it, you can always take it back.

There was about two or three year period back in the mid-to-late 80's in which every single girl I dated and banged had a water bed.

I agree! I have a sleep number and have never slept better. MAy cost a bit more to startm but it pays off. A king size lets you adjust each side to your own comfort.

I can.

It's a million times better than the $2500 Stearns and Foster pillowtop that my in-laws bought us as a wedding present.

100 nights to try it, they pay return shipping if you're not happy.

We've had ours for 16 months and love it.
