Just getting back to reading through this thread, and I gave Romanowski the benefit of the doubt. Yes, I am aware that the word 'boy' has been used in a derogatory manner when referring to black men. But my own personal experience, more specifically where I currently work led me to believe otherwise.

Two supervisors who work for me are black, and they have both white and black people in their departments. They continuously refer to young men of both colors as 'boy'; e.g. "That boy thinks he's getting a raise" or "That boy is always late to work". I've never heard them use the term ni**er, ever, so that is why never really thought of it as purely a racist term. Frankly the word seemed antiquated to me. My grandfather told me he was repeatedly referred to as a 'Donkey' for years after he immigrated (and it made his blood boil), but who refers to the Irish as Donkeys now?

Yup, Romanowski is a certifiable asshat but I don't believe he intended for the word 'boy' to be racist. He most likely shot his mouth off without much forethought (shocking), and gave SJWs a chance to lambaste him on the internet.
