So, I didn't see a thread started, and all the others are pretty maxed out to the point where a fresh thread would be needed soon either way.

Time to share the run up to ST & and another memorable year in the making!

Wow.

I hadn't seen that. It will be interesting to see what he actually gets.

Base Runs has us at 80 wins. Fangraphs WAR (which I believe is based on Steamer but I'm not certain) has 83 wins. That seems about right. We have added nothing so far and fWAR has us getting:

DH: 0 war
5 starter: 0 war (lamb 19 starts, Finnegan 10 brooks 7)
Bench: 1 war (absolute disgraceful list of crap)

So we need to find 4-6 war this winter. That is do-able. We have $25m to spend probably. A good platoon takes care of DH & one good starter should get you 2-3 war. Play your cards right and you get ~88 wins

Yeah, 90 wins right now! (High fives)

Except the 225 IP of 3.20 from Shields, or getting sub 1.50 from HDH again (second time in 114 years if it happens), or being the healthiest team in all of MLB. ESP Yordano and Duffy lasting all season

or flip side, the negative WAR by our DH, the terrible season by Moose and Hosmer, the fall off the cliff second half by Perez ...

if our guys don't have a little playoff/WS swagger, our young guys specifically, and they can't build on that and all be a little better in the hitting department (especially LoCain, a budding superstar, and Hosmer/Moose) ... then I don't know what the **** to tell you.

Those guys alone should make up the difference for losing Shields IMO. Add a healthy Hoch and a very confident HDH ... ? Another year of Duffy and Ace who are only going to get better, too?

yeah...90 wins. Right now.

Right now at 90? No way man. 85 would be optimistic. Good thing is we can add to it.

Wtf.

@drewsilv: Whoa. RT @Buster_ESPN Marlins, Dodgers are in serious talks about a deal that would involve Dee Gordon going to MIA, Andrew Heaney to LAD.

Also? Why 85? We won 89 ****ing games with abysmal hitting from Moose, Butler and Hosmer. And Perez. And everyone on our ****ing team.

If you really think all of those guys are going to shit the bed, again, hitting then you may be right.

me?

I'll be optimistic that at least two of those guys break .800 OPS this year. If that's the case, that alone will make up for losing Shields. Easy.

You fling opinion as if they are facts, and rarely do you post any data or proof of your opinion. That's why your takes are essentially worthless.

Post season hitting isn't a predictor of future success.
