The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

I am going to trust Reid/Dorsey.

They have always had solid QB depth. Always. They know the importance of the position.

They are not going to march out Smith/Cassel/Stanzi. They won't.

It's a shame Chiefs fans are going to be stupid about Alex Smith, too.

I could have seen myself getting into the unruly mob thing. SOC was pretty fun this year. I would have been more than glad to make Alex Smith's stay here in Kansas City as miserable as Matt Cassel's.

But when the majority of the fanbase is in favor of this kind of crap, there's not much left I can do.

See all above.

It just makes sense where Smith will end up. Cleveland.
Cleveland Plain Dealer says it's not the Browns.

I love it that teams are proactively COMING OUT AND DENYING they landed Smith.

Just screams "don't worry fans, it wasn't us."
