Indeed, need to finish up the road trip strong and come back to KC for the home opener with a winning record.

Long winded answer, but here goes. As a kid going up in Springfield, I was, like most of the population down there, a Cardinals fan (still am in the sense I cheer for them to win almost all the time). When we moved to KC, our family got season tickets for the Royals, we split them with a couple of other families, so I got to see the Royals a lot during the high water mark of their success (83-87), and become a fan of them as well.
The strike in 1994 made me forgo baseball altogether for a number of years. I was so pissed off that the Royals dismantled that team after the strike (dumping David Cone less the two seasons after making one of the biggest free agent signings in team history). Many folks seem to forget that when the 94 strike hit, the Royals had won like 18 of 20 games, and were either tied with the White Sox or just a game or so back of them in the standings. The Royals, as a team have never been the same since the 94 strike. Fast forward to 2000. My wife is from MN and when I had the opportunity to take a good job up there, I did and we moved up there to be closer to her family. My wifes family are big into MN sports, and naturally, summertime focused on baseball, so I found myself down at the Metrodome on a number of occasions watching baseball...something I had not seen live since 94 in KC. The Twins were beginning to make their run of small market greatness, and I found myself caught up in the tide of fan resurgence up there, and found myself enjoying baseball again. So I have followed the Twins most closely in the last ten years or so, save for when the Cardinals have made their deep runs in the post season. My loyalties to baseball teams are not nearly as set in stone as my devotion to the Chiefs or to Mizzou. When I asked BoneKrusher to make my sig bar, I debated between the Royals and the Twins, and went with the Twins, as much as they brought me back to baseball, but also as a reminder of my time in the Great North. For what is it worth, I kind of feel like the Royals of this year are kind of like the Twins of 2000...a doormat team that has been down for a long, long, time, that is finally starting to awaken from its slumber. It took the Twins a couple of seasons after 2000 to make the playoffs, but they got it done. I think the Royals can do the same, and I hope that they do. My daughter wants to see the Royals live this year, and I have not been to Royals Stadium since 94 for a game, so I am thinking I will end my drought there this year and take her out to the park for a few games. I am sure my explanation has now reached the tl;dr status, but there it is.

How's the weather look as far as getting the game in? I know they were expecting more rain.
