Fairly surprising just how little the Kings got for Cousins but sounded like there wasn't much of a trade market due to him being one of the biggest shitheads in the league. Amusing aspect is the Kings are due to give up an unprotected 1st on 2019 from that dumbass trade they did last year to dump Stauskis and Landry so they could sign some other shitty players.

I don't think it was about the haul, it was about Cousins being in a very rare, unprecedented contract position this summer
He was eligible a designated-veteran-player extension this summer with the Kings, the first player this has been offered too. This was designed to keep veteran star players enticed to stay with their home team, and here in the very first case it could be applied to, it is backfiring. He was eligible to make $209,090,000 over five years ($41,818,000 annually) with the Kings under this special rule. Would have been the highest paid NBA salary in history. His agents were sabotaging his trade value saying he wouldn't re-sign with any team that traded for him. Kings I guess didn't want to commit that and shipped him off. He's now only eligible to sign a max with the Pelicans for $179,220,000 over five years ($35,844,000 annually) and if he leaves the Pelicans even less Orleans, a projected $132,870,000 over four years ($33,217,500 annually). The Kings basically screwed him out of 30 million. The Kings got a 250 million dollar stadium funded by their taxpayers just a year ago and then shipped off all their assets in the process slowly over the last ___ years. (Isiah Thomas, Stauskas, Boogie, etc) Biggest sham in pro sports. And yet the NBA ran Hinkie out of Philly and Vlade and Vivek are allowed to make a mockery out of pro sports and their city. lol Last edited by mcaj22; 02-20-2017 at 04:07 PM.. |

Sacramento was in a horrible position to really do anything. Worst case scenario for them is they lose Cousins and get nothing for him. You have to take watever value you can get based on what the market provides.

I like the Trade the Thunder made. I really thought after seeing flashes of Cameron Payne he would become someone but he just hasn't developed very well.
Taj Gibson is a hardworking tough player that OKC needs and McDermott should add shooting and scoring punch.

It's not a big man's league. Cousins/Davis got obliterated. They did what they know.

Gordon and Sweet Lou 25 3 point attempts between just them lol
and the Sacremento Nobodies is puttin a whoopin on the 8th Seed Nuggets right now. That run and gun Hield/WCS combo looks much better than anyone could imagine all things considered. You really only need an athletic rim protector that can run in todays NBA which is why I am amazed the 76ers basically gave Nerlens away when the Okafor (aka lil Al Jefferson) type bigs are completely obsolete Mavericks too, talk about rebuilding on the fly, 5 guys under 26: Barnes, Rivers, Yogi Noel, Finney Smith, they will get a top pick in the draft, Cuban shark tankin everyone. Carlisle going to mold this young talent. Not a bad group to build with. Reinforcements heading to the Cavs in Deron and Bogut, LeGM rejoices. They got to be the favorites now. Bogut will stop anything in the middle come playoffs and GS has no answer for that. Deron might have enough in the tank to just handle the ball and give LeGM some rest, as long as Deron doesn't pull 5 hammys and sit out the next 18 months. They might repeat. Both good vets that need to stay healthy. |

Very young team with Shaq and Penny in only their 2nd year together. If Shaq hadn't left for LA, Orlando would of won at least one title, probably many more. It also seems like Shaq and Penny's personalities co-existed a whole lot better than Shaq and Kobe if you watch The Magic Moment 30 for 30.

Guys get remembered for how they were at the end of their careers. And Shaq was washed up and a big, plodding guy at the end. But the first 10-15 years of his career? He was a monster. He was a freak who definitely was bigger and stronger than everyone else, but could still run the floor with zero problems and dunk on your head. He was very athletic. You could put prime Shaq out there in the Western Conference today and the Warriors would not be able to contain him.
