It looks better, but I'm still not sold. It's like they misunderstood what the iconic elements of the comics design were, and maintained the things they could have (and probably should have) changed.

Also blue is an odd choice for his skin color, since he's always had grey skin in the comics and they already have three other blue mutants in this movie.

Height is pretty easy to manipulate (Tom Hardy is 3 inches shorter than Christian Bale for example) but that EW cover is how Apocalypse will look. They're not going to put unfinished VFX on the cover of a magazine.

I've been thinking about this, and I'm starting to wonder if it's plot related. Like maybe the twist is that Apocalypse is Mystique's father. Their powers are kind of similar.
