Sometimes when you strive to get away from mediocrity you take a step back. It is not as easy to replace players that are on the top side of mediocrity as some people, especially around here, think. We must keep trying even though sometimes things get worse instead of better.
The very same thing could happen if we don't resign Alex Smith and draft a QB. I know most around here hate him. I am tolerant of him because I know that although he is not "all that" we have been doing much worse at the position and could more easily take a step backwards than one that is forward.
