But once I read that they did, I was very disappointed in them for it.
I don't like what they did, but the outrage we are seeing is ridiculously overblown. There are REAL problems in this country to be mad about. This isn't one of them. It is just a handful of players no one ever gave a shit about anyway. Let it go.

Kaep is a traitor?

You were saying? Your hard on for me is so strong you attribute other poster's as being me whenever the mood strikes. I find it fascinating, and somewhat titillating. I'm glad I've constantly got your attention, counselor.

I apologize for mixing the two of you up, But opposite your conclusion, it was because I didn't put much thought into who said it and didn't go back to confirm. I thought I remembered your prior avatar in the area and went with it.

I give you no more thought than any other poster. Sorry.

Thanks for going back and cataloguing the thread to make your point just for me, though.

I didn't see what the Chiefs did as a protest - I saw it as a display of unity.

The basic message was 'we recognize that some people wish to do something to protest the appearance of the flag and the sound of the anthem. We also recognize that that some wish to show their respect as much or more than ever. So we're acting as a team in a neutral manner to show that unity among us overrides individual preferences.'
I think this was it exactly.

This is not a good comparison because making fun of a kid with Down syndrome is malicious and mean-spirited, neither of which would any reasonable person relate to sitting/kneeling during the national anthem. There's clearly a victim in your scenario, not so much in Kaep's case.

Your comparison is tantamount (paramount?) to the anti-gay crowd saying we shouldn't allow same-sex marriage because people will then start marrying their kids, pets, etc.

The problem is that people are completely ignoring that.
The reason most find it offensive is because when I stand for the national anthem and put my hand over my heart, I'm thinking about our military. I'm thinking about my father who served, I'm thinking about what all of those men and women who have fought for this country have given to me and my family. I'm not thinking about politicians... I'm not thinking about the police.

So when I first heard of this protest from Kap, my first thought was, like many others, he's disrespecting our country, he's disrespecting our military, he's disrespecting the flag. He's disrespecting all of the people who died fighting for the north in the civil war to ensure that it isn't a confederate flag flying at the top of stadiums. The American flag, as a symbol, is pure. It represents the idea that all "men" are equal. It represents a country who's rule of law recognizes that all "men" are equal.

I have no problem with him trying to continue the conversation of racial injustices, but it shouldn't be directed at the flag or the national anthem.

His name recognition would have been plenty to get his message across if he'd have grabbed a picket sign and went and demonstrated in front of the capital. Or spoke at a black lives matter rally. It still would have raised eye brows... it still would have been controversial. Hell, why didn't he just wear his pig/cop socks to the games? That at least would have been a protest that would have been on message. He's disrespecting the wrong thing with his sitting/kneeling for the national anthem.

1. Many people apparently give a lot more than a rat's ass over this.
2. Your choice to attend.
3. Not your dime.

In your opinion.

The flag is a symbol and doesn't represent the same thing/s to every person.
