Carjacking at 95th & Monrovia with baby in car ends safely
So, a car was stolen\jacked at a Bank of America at 95th & Monrovia tonight with a 5 month old baby in the back. The car and baby were found at 79th & Wornall and the baby is safe.

This ended well but it happens too often. This is the perfect case for CCW, imo. Apparently one of the passengers was hit in the leg with a bat. It is unclear if the person was trying to save the child or not.

Having said that, what would you do if someone tried to take your car with your child in the back seat? It's a very scary thought but these days it seems to be one we must confront on a daily basis.

I've seen both reports but the last I saw said it was jacked. As I understand it, there were 2 people in the car, they were at the bank conducting a transaction. I assumed maybe 1 of the people was out of the car at the ATM but then I read that 2 people "got out of the car". Either way, the point of the OP is to ask what you would do if you were being car jacked with your child in the car.

Brilliant strategy for ensuring the safety of your kid and possibly getting to use your CCW at the same time.

Well, now they seem to be calling it a jacking but are saying a couple got out of the car and a guy jumped in and took the car. Fuzzy details still at best. Doesn't clear up if it was jacked or stolen.

A lady was car jacked at Oak Park Mall just a few weeks ago. That's very unusual for that area. Criminals are getting bolder in what are typically safe areas.

To me this smells of a situation where someone probably left a child unattended in a running car.

And to answer the question, I don't know what I would do, never spent much time thinking about it since I'm not really worried about being carjacked and I don't have a child. If it was a concern of mine I would probably just do what I mentioned earlier and keep my doors locked and stay aware of what's going on around me and not leave the child unattended in the car.

People don't get it. They think by being in a safe neighborhood or as someone said, lock your doors or what not that they will be safe. It's the typical "it won't happen to me because I'm smart" syndrome.

You get your CCW, you practice with your firearm and you pray you never have to use it.
