4 trades Chiefs should make

http://arrowheadaddict.com/2016/10/1...rade-deadline/

Trade DeAnthony Thomas to the Cardinals for a pick
Trade for Antoine Bethea from the 49ers
Trade for Brent Grimes from Tampa Bay
Trade for Vontae Davis from the Colts

The only one that I really like is Vontae Davis.
If we trade DAT who takes his place returning since we just traded Davis?

Right. They kept knile because they badly wanted 4 rbs. Not so they could dangle him all year as trade bait.

They kept Knile because West was banged up and Jamaal wasn't ready. Last week you saw all three healthy so he was traded.

So that's why they were trying to trade knile in the preseason? The Chiefs have already traded cooper and knile. The Chiefs can get offers from desperate teams in the regular season they can't in the preseason. I don't think DAT being on the roster necessarily means they think he's wildly valuable. If he was, why has he been inactive most weeks?

While we're making trades lets trade Ross Travis for Richard Sherman. That's about as likely as getting Vontae Davis during the season.

IIRC west wasn't banged up til later in the preseason. So I'm sure they kept him to help if they needed another back if Ware went down since Jamaal wasn't ready. Obviously they weren't letting Knile go for free so they kept him until a team had RB injuries.

DAT is the backup to Hill. He's cheap and they have him under contract for another year.

There's absolutely no reason to trade him for a Conditional 7th round pick in 2018.

1. Trading De'Anthony Thomas makes some sense given how little he's been used to this point, but with the trade of Knile Davis it seems unlikely the Chiefs will want to part with another returner.

2. Trading for Antoine Bethea is downright stupidity. Not only are you potentially throwing away a mid-round draft choice on a guy that's hit that magic age where players start to fall off, but you're taking on a rather significant starter's salary of over 4.5 million per.

3. Trading for Brent Grimes is a worse idea than trading for Bethea. Just see #2 for reasons, tack on another year of age, and a bit of LR cancer.

4. While I like the idea of adding Vontae Davis, he'd likely be expensive (at least a 3rd round pick) and he'd have to fit into the Chiefs cap. The Chiefs would assume the remainder of his $7.125 million salary in 2016, essentially slamming them up against the cap wall, and $9 million in 2017 (signing bonuses don't transfer). Not only all of this, but the Colts would have to want to deal one of the few good players they have on defense.
