Why are we being "penalized" having to play neutral site games? It is YOUR suggestion that those teams have to travel to AFH in the
Postseason that is penal.
Kansas is 27-3 and going to win the 2nd best conference in America by 3 or 4 games. They've earned, as of right now, the #1 overall seed. You don't think they deserve more than having to win six games in a row on a neutral court? Why should teams who finish 7th in their own conference get any say on who wins the National Championship?

Any team with a lower seed should HAVE to play on the road until the Final Four. Under the correct format, you totally screw really good teams compared to virtually every other system known for crowning a champion. At least if you give higher ranked teams home court advantage, it gives teams incentives for regular season prowess.

The big challenge would be Zach Browns Defense against Josh Jackson or they could put McDuffie on him. Then there's the X factor with Frankamp against Graham. Graham impresses me and loves the moment. Frankamp wants sweet revenge. (Marshall has taught him to play some D this year as well.) Vick is another good player. Lucas is Lucas.

Wichita has 10-15 fouls to give at every position except point Guard. They're deep and there are 9-10 very good scorers on the team.

This team averages 80pts a game and gives up only about 38% shooting on D. The offense is much less predictable than last year with Fred and Ron. The analytics I saw had KU a 1 point favorite in a hypothetical matchup but you could throw that out the window as the winner would be the team who has the superior mental toughness and executes. It's a toss up on a neutral court in my opinion.

I'd rather WSU didn't play KU early. I'd rather be in Gonzagas Region and get a second crack at Michigan State. Izzos guys would underestimate WSU.

For the record I'm not always anti KU. I just can't stand entitled KU fan. Love to puncture that balloon. I'm looking at you reerun 😀 I will say that Allen is a special place to play. The crowd willed KU into winning that game last night. Tremendous atmosphere.

WSU needs to get out of the Valley and into the AAC. KU should then schedule home and home and neutral and neutral with WSU. I know it won't happen though so I hope for a Regional meeting with KU.

Love this time of year. Let the chips fall where they may boys!!
Great analysis. I wondered if it would come down to WSU's depth vs. the matchup advantages we'd have with our starters (from your analysis I'm now seeing that Jackson may be the only true matchup issue for WSU).

I watched a couple of WSU's games early on, and from your comments and from what I've read elsewhere it seems they've come a long way after getting rushed by Okie State. Personally, I'd prefer it if they were the 5 in our region, as I think it would be unfair to both teams to draw that matchup on the first weekend.

But, knowing March, we could both be bounced out the first weekend even if we were the 1 seed and the 5 seed in our region. Quality post, ChiefARoo, best of luck to you in March!

I dispute everything you wrote. There's almost no gap mathematically between any of these top teams and nobody would watch your format as it would kill drama or fair (level) system it provides. No sense debating it, agree to disagree.

The problem is you are thinking in terms of predictive measures. I'm talking in terms of what a team has earned & achieved. You shouldn't be seeded based off of predictive measures. I think KU is only marginally better than some teams who have lost 9 games. But guess what, KU didn't lose 9 games. They need to be compensated for that as much as possible just like Villanova, the Pac 12 winner, ACC winner, etc. It's already a ****ing joke that they award the automatic bid to the winner of the little cute conference tournament instead of the REGULAR SEASON GRIND OF 15 or 16 conference games.

I don't think home court games would ruin anything. I don't think people who bet on the games give a shit where they are playing the games. You still have a chance of a team with a number 12 by their name beating a number 5, and people freaking out thinking it's some amazing upset (when in reality it's barely an upset, if one at all) If anything, it would add more character and flair to have it in a historic gym like The Palestra, AFH, Cameron, etc. I don't know how that is bad for the game versus having it in sparsely filled arenas where 80% of the crowd doesn't care who wins or loses.

In fact, while we are on it. I think the power 5 conferences should agree to remove NCAA from the equation. Make their own tournament, get the midmajors to sign on with it. Higher seeded teams get home court advantage, and the schools keep all of the revenue instead of letting NCAA have their cash cow and hoarding all the revenue.

Boy, you're dreaming big, aren't you? This home court advantage talk is stupid. You separate the regular season and the post season. KU is awarded for their play during the season. They get a ring for winning the conference. It's stupid to ask teams to come to Allen during the post season. How is that even remeotely fair? You know how many games KU would've lost this season had they not had those comebacks fueled by the home crowd? It's a distinct advantage, something a team shouldn't have in the NCAA tournament. Just lace em up and play on a neutral court.

If only KU hadn't been the best road/neutral court team in the NCAA this season (with wins over Kentucky, Baylor, Duke, and Iowa State).

For the Lucas haters that can't seem to grasp why he's so valuable to this team and why guys like Bragg and Coleby are nowhere near his level.

Good breakdown. Far better than all the trolling.

Depth might well be a killer for KU, especially if fouls rack up quick.

I don't think Frankamp on Graham would end up very well, if Graham decides to not just stand around on the 3 pt line. Graham is really slippery and last game I watched Frankamp still has pretty slow feet. That could be offset by some well executed help defense off of Lucas. Graham can disappear sometimes, so if he does, that will...suck.

Gonzaga would be a good matchup for WSU. Izzo normally has his dudes ready to play, but they aren't as good this year. Valentine did a lot more for them last year than a lot of people recognize.

What are the chances WSU leaves the Valley? Is there any smoke there or is it just what you'd rather see?

Do you think it's stupid when the Chiefs get a home game in the playoffs? Or when the Royals had home field advantage in the World Series? Even in the NBA, it's a huge deal. Why would it be dumb to implement in college? I would absolutely love it.

Your question about, how would it be fair. It's not really supposed to be fair when you have to play against a #1 seed. That is why they received a high seed. They need to get rewarded more than have to go through murderers row for 6 games just to win a National Title in a single game elimination tournament.

I agree with this. And don't the women basketball teams get home court for at least the first couple of rounds?
In any case, it's not gonna change. They have too much invested in the madness of March. They want the upsets because it brings more viewers.

Don't ever mention women's hoops on this thread, thank you in advance

His idea won't be implemented because it's a terrible idea. Nobody wants to watch UNC and Kansas and Kent playing home NCAAT games. Not even their own fanbases.

Pro sports don't do neutral sites because the teams get to keep all the revenue. College football and basketball teams don't, it's shared $ for the institutions, and hence a totally different dynamic irrelevant as a comparison.

KU losing to VCU in the elite 8 as an 11 point fave is a shitty outcome, possibly unfair. KU losing to Wich St this year as a 1 point fave isn't unfair at all

Pomeroy:
KU #9 (27-3) 5 offense / 26 defense
WSU #10 (27-4) 9 offense/24 defense

Funny how anyone could argue KU somehow deserves to host them at AFH
