With all this talk about different endings, I am reminded of the ending to "STALKER: Shadows of Chernobyl"
It had a ton of different endings, and they drove me nuts until I figured out the other exit in the power plant. |

I came here just to see if anyone was talking about this game. I saw a video on YouTube and it looks like something I could play for hours and never get tired of it. |

Batman Arkham Knight Review: PS4
Batman - Arkham Knight: PS4
I never really got into the Batman games until the last one... After completing Arkham City, I went back and played the previous, (Arkham Asylum). It's a wonderful series that captures the Dark Knight in a gritty and dark way and that's how he's supposed to be portrayed, (in my opinion). They've all been creative and interesting. The feel of imminent doom and darkness with Rocksteady's interpretation of the classic comic hero is one of a kind and genuine. The series is popular and has set several records in sales and game awards. I'll preface this with a disclaimer. I'm judging this particular game via the PS4 console completely. I am not taking what you poor PC bastards have gone through into account. For those of you not in the know... The PC release of this game is/was extremely flawed. It had major glitches, the average (and above average) gaming PC's had real trouble playing it. Textures were clouded and unpolished, there was major, MAJOR lag and it was glitchy as hell. Rocksteady/WB actually pulled the PC edition off the shelves and Steam.com due to these issues and they offered full refunds. As it sits right now, the first patch won't be ready until last August. What's worse, the devs knew it was a piece of crap but WB told them to get it out the door anyway. Yeah, that sucks and it just goes to show how PC gamers are considered 2nd class citizens by major devs. Another story for another day. However, this behavior may just change with Steam's new refund policy. Let's hope. Anyway... Let's pretend that the PC fubar didn't happen and just talk about the game. The story takes place a year after the last game. Joker is pushing up daisies, (cool start to this game, btw) and for the most part Gotham is quiet. Well we all know how that changes and our ol' buddy Scarecrow is up to no good. He's decided Gotham deserves a giant bath in his fear toxin (again) and he has an assistant in anarchy, The Arkham Knight. Mr. Knight seems to be holding a personal grudge against our friend Batman and drama ensues. Yes, this Knight douche is acting like a girl at her 'sweet sixteen' that got a used Saab instead of the pink Mini convertible she begged for. Somehow these two super villains have put together an entire army faster than GW when he heard the Ecuadorians struck oil. Their army includes drones, tanks, tank-drones, drone-tanks, mobile drone-SAM's and roughly 10,000 troops, (not drones). This is where the big addition to the game comes in to play. That's right kiddies, the Batmobile makes its first real appearance and is totally controllable. It has two modes, the regular 'Batmobile' and the "transformer mode" where it turns into a tank. The face of the game changes completely. It turns into a mix of your regular Batman game and a high def version of Battletanks. You'd think that this would be a really cool addition but let me tell you, it gets a bit old. They shove this damn thing down your throat and they do it early and often. I'd venture a guess that says at least 70% of the game circulates around that god-damned Batmobile. I got so tired of this repetitive shit and if it wasn't for the storyline, I probably would've lost my mind. That being said, this game is good in smaller doses. I have to also say that this is not quite as good as the last two but it's definitely better than 'Origins' but then again, so is a scolding hot coffee-colonic. The story never got old but the repetitive gameplay and the crap job of including other Batman villains really took it down a notch. The Penguin, Two Face and some others make an appearance for some side jobs but it wasn't enough. Well, unless you count the hundreds of side missions from the Riddler... Ugh, all Batmobile related race tracks. Very tiring. The nice thing was working with Catwoman on these since she's smoking hot. Another bright spot was Mark Hamill's Joker. Yes, the Joker, (although dead) was a huge part of the game and a welcomed distraction from the constant button mashing. So, let's review the review... Storyline - Good Gameplay - Repetitive with a touch or two of greatness. Graphics - Decent but 30 fps... Seriously???? Replayability - Meh, not so hot right away but it's something to pick up every few weeks for a good ride. They included a fairly similar combat system this time around but the suit upgrades were changed a bit and a very welcomed addition. Another nice feature is they've hidden some area of effect weapons around the city, (things like freeze grenades) that you can equip. They did get creative there. This game is above average. The ending was a bit disappointing and the "big twist/shocker storyline ending" was not a surprise because they did a shit-ton of flashbacks about an old character for explanation. If you've played the game, you know what I mean. Like, seriously, my 6 year old called that shit out halfway thru the game. The final ending is in different phases; as you clear side missions more are opened up. I suggest checking them out on YouTube instead of replaying the same shit over and over again. All the chips on the table? I give this one a solid 7.25 out of 10. Great graphics, good story, decent upgraded combat, terribly repetitive and Batmobile hijinks is what you'll get here. As I mentioned, Mark Hamill's Joker is really worth a look. Side notes: 1. If I were to take the bullshit PC port into account, The game would've been a 5. 2. My apologies for the delay on this one. Life and all, you know? Anyway... Next up? Rocket League! That bad boy was a welcomed surprise. If you don't have it, get it. Free right now with PS Plus. Thanks all! |

I tried Styx and I think it might be kinda cool. It's a stealth-based RPG style game.

Rocket League - PS4 Review
Rocket League Review - PS4:
Every now and then a game will come out without any fanfare, hype, trailers or fanboy bullshit and it will completely surprise people. This year's gem looks to be Rocket League. This game is an addictive and beautiful addition to my library and it's really gaining steam. Rocket League is a combination of two of my least favorite sports... Auto Racing and Soccer. However, you strap rockets on the back of these cars and make the ball the size of house and you've got a winner. This physics-based sports game is brilliant in its simplicity. You can play several different types of matches, (team size-wise) but the game is pretty much cut and dry. You've got 5 minutes to score more goals than your opponent. The team size can be 4v4, 3v3, 2v2 and a 1v1 duel. The developers, (Psyonix) did a great job with online matchmaking and most matches are very close with overtime being very common. You can play online vs others or play a regular season offline with exceedingly adaquate AI. This game is becoming so popular that there are some professional leagues already being started up. YouTube has several thousand videos of people doing unreal shit. You should definitely check it out. I am exceedingly thankful that the Playstation Network was giving this game out for free this month or I never would've given it a second thought. If you don't have a membership, you can pick this up for a very fair 20 bucks. Be prepared to waste hours and hours on it, though. It's such a simple, yet awesome idea and in the 30 hrs I've already put into it, I have yet to see one glitch. This is very polished and nearly perfect. Another great addition was the hundreds of vehicle customizations you can unlock and the ranking system is wonderful. So, is there anything bad about this game? Yes... It can get a bit repetitive and some of the people online can be real dicks. (Thank god for mute functions) You run into your ball-hogs and the idiots that forget which goal is theirs but for the most part, the community is pretty great. They compliment each other regularly on good plays and you never wait more than 20-30 seconds to find a match. All in all I have to score this as a game of the year contender. I'm slapping this one with a 9.5 out of 10. If they had some more game modes like penalty shots or something like that, it would be perfect. It can get just a bit repetitive, like I said but I find that after a day or two away, I go right back to it. Added note: this is very family friendly. Something you should play with the kiddos. Buy this bad boy. You'll love it! |
