All Things Video Games & Game Reviews

Hey guys...
Thought we could use a thread to help one another out with purchasing new and used games. Now that the next gen consoles are out and the holiday season will soon be upon us, many new games are going to drop. We've been throwing 'reviews' in several different threads or making new threads for each game. I thought we might like to converge and discuss them as a whole. Whether you're on PS3, 360, PS4, XB one or even a wii, PC and Mac, this is a repository for what you're playing and how you rate it.

Let's try to do a 1-10 scale for each game. Take into account the following:

Storyline
Challenge
Replayability
Graphics
Online functionality
Downloadable content
AI/npc's
Price
Length of gameplay

You can use all or some of those as a guide to score the game. If there are other aspects you'd like to tell as about with your game, please do so. These are just suggentions.

Please note what system, (if necessary i.e. It being exclusive to a system) you're playing on and let us know what you think.

1. Sucks, I'd rather watch Brodie Croyle play as our starter. This game is dogshit.
2. Don't waste your time. It's obviously been programmed by a bunch of chimps with syphilis.
3. I'd rather eat tapioca pudding out of my grandmothers colostomy bag, then stick my tongue in her stoma.
4. Meh, there's really better stuff to do, (like waxing my pubes) but I was lazy.
5. This is kinda like purgatory. It's not the best place to be but it could be worse.
6. Not bad at all... It's like I just scored a BJ from my hot first cousin.
7. Entertaining as all hell, kinda like the feeling where you just drank enough not to puke and can still walk.
8. Buy this game, I'm super-cereal. It's got stuff that makes my nipples tingly.
9. HELL F'ing YEAH! I'd talk more about it but I'm gonna be locked in place for a week just playing this ****er.
10. This game is like godfather two and the empire strikes back joined forces to **** your face off with wow. I'm taking all of my PTO days and going on FMLA.

EDIT: We can also discuss upcoming/all things gaming in here as well.
Enjoy!

Its more of a direct successor to the 'original' simcity.

Its far more in depth especially with road building, and the steam workshop has hundreds of mods from buildings to game rules to graphics mods.

Get it.

Game Review - Battlefield Hardline

Battlefield Hardline Review-

I picked this up as an impulse buy a few days ago and was going in with low expectations. We all know the controversy around BF4. They released the game way before it was ready, it was buggy, servers had issues, glitches galore and the campaign was horrid, (that didn't change).
Well, after getting all the patches, DLC and fixes in, it's a decent multiplayer. One thing I've enjoyed with Battlefield is that you had to use teamwork and strategy. It wasn't the selfish, moronic dipshittery that is COD.
You could actually March in with other players, use tanks, jets and choppers. It was really a war simulator and quite enjoyable.

Well, they decided to get away from that formula and make it just another controlled anarchy style FPS.
In this installment (of the now annual release) they decided that a "Cops and Robbers" format would be the way to go.
Now then, I'm going to break this down completely for you guys:

Campaign: You play a newer Miami Derective named Mendoza. They set this up like episodes of a crime drama like CSI Miami. Speaking of which, every time you leave the campaign it does a cut scene, "Next time on battlefield hardline."
Then when you start back up, "Previously on BF Hardline." That's a pretty cool way to do it. I have to admit I did enjoy the campaign. It was very cliche, (good cops go bad etc) and the ending was a huge "WTF" moment but all in all, it was good. I score the campaign at a 7 (even though I beat it on harder difficulty in 7 hrs). One of my bitches with it is their new 'arrest mechanic' where you throw up your badge and yell FREEZE! No matter how armed the suspect is, he gives up. It was cool at first but it got old and repetitive.

Graphics, Gameplay: they're using the same engine as they did with BF4 so all the glitches are gone. I'll admit it ran at 60fps with no issues at all. Unfortunately they are doing 720p for PC and XBOne and 900 for PS4 so it's not as it should be. The game shows some kickass next gen graphics sometimes but at other times, it looks very meh. They're serviceable but nothing special. - 6

Multiplayer: Ahh yes, the big selling point. They do still have the conquest options, death match and a version of capture the flag that sets up like a bank heist. However, they added in something that starts off kinda cool. It's called Hotwire... Two teams of 10 to 20 players try to capture vehicles and drive them around the map to score points. You have to keep from getting blown to hell. Initially, I thought it was a good concept but now I'm starting to realize that this is just a driving simulator. Yeah it's cool to hang out the door and shoot at others but it does get old quick.
This mode also makes the progression system off-balance. You can score more points and cash just by avoiding players than you will by killing them. So circle after circle after circle.
Speaking of progression, LAME. Where BF4 had upwards of 30 guns per class, Hardline has like, 4 or 5. Oh and you can't utilize the gun you unlocked half the time since you switch back and forth between cops and criminals! Very stupid. Of course it's EA setting up micro-transactions and DLC. Once again here's what we've come to because moron gamers allow it, nay promote it. Little billy in the suburbs wants all the coolest shit before anyone else so he chucks an extra 60 bucks at it. Assholes
Multiplayer - 2.5
(Sidenote, only about a half dozen maps, most of which are very small).

All in all this game had a lot of potential but it fell very short. This is not a full priced AAA title. It's more of a 30 dollar DLC for BF4.
Good job EA, as usual. You're the worst thing that's ever happened to video games in the last five years. Eat a bag of dicks.

Total score for this: 4.75 Very below average garbage that could have easily kicked some serious ass but instead, fell flat on its dick.

Good write up. I picked it up yesterday on impulse too. I haven't had a decent shooter to play in a while and I felt the itch. I agree with basically everything you said but i'll still probably continue to play it.

I will add that I thought MP loaded extremely fast for me. Perhaps that's credit more to my new comp than the game. Last Battlefield I played was 3 and I remember it was a pain connecting to servers. In Hardline I hit quick match for conquest and 15 seconds later I'm getting spawn killed already. It's great

Oh yeah, I agree. The multiplayer works wonderfully.

Hey man, yeah I've been reading up a bit. Next time I'm on I'll give you a holler though. What pisses me off is the length between save points. God I made it so fricken far only to have to start over.

I did the same thing and I was devastated. I kept at it and realized it doesn't really work like that.

Also there are many shut doors you can circle around to and open from the backside giving you shortcuts for the future. Also you can pretty much run past anything you don't want to deal with by holding circle while using the left stick pointing the direction you want to run.

I played six hours yesterday. After the first four I was questioning my purchase. When it finally clicked I had a really fun time and I'm looking forward to playing more tonight.
