After decades of fighting evil solo, Batman and Superman will finally be teaming up on the big screen, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will direct the tentpole with Henry Cavill returning as Superman. It is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017.

Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

Warner Bros. is about to bring together two of its most iconic heroes: Superman and Batman will unite in a new film, the follow-up to “Man of Steel,” set for release in 2015.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

We might like WS to be the throw away character, but since it is WS he will get way too much screen time.

She got those powers from touching Ms. Marvel, so it's sort of consistent that she wouldn't have those powers in a universe where that didn't happen.

Also it's ****ing crazy that when I was a kid Ms. Marvel was basically just a footnote in Rogue's backstory, and now (as Captain Marvel) she's getting her own movie.

I still don't really get the Batman "angry at the destruction Superman caused" angle. Zod and his terraforming machine caused 90% of the destruction. Superman was literally halfway around the world when the city was being destroyed.

Even though Shannon was joking about his flippered fate, his character shows up in the trailer for BvS, which he finds amusing: "It's a really awkward situation," he said. He's trying to walk back his comments because he said too much. His original interview is way too specific to say it was a vague comment. Explained here:



He may or may not be DD but he's definitely trying to play down what he previously said and his involvement in the new movie.

whats not to get? The only reason Zod is there is because of superman. Superman didn't give himself up. Superman allowed for his workers/associates get killed.. along with innocent lives

That is actually all his fathers fault. Jor El. Would you rather have Superman just stand by like Jonathan Kent insinuated the entire movie and let Zod take over the world?

Wayne is likely more upset at the wanton destruction by beings possessing god like abilities to normal humans. Plus he not only lost his Metropolis Wayne Industries building as Zod was figuring out his heat vision, but lost a billion dollar satellite to boot. Bruce is having himself a shitty day and feels like taking it out on Clark, I suppose. Not to mention of how he apparently sees Clark as a clear and present danger to the entire planet...
