I understand, but it's like tipping. "We can't make money on the ticket, so we'll subsidize it in other ways." Just charge more for a ticket (even double) if you want to bring your own food. The last time I was at the movies a medium popcorn and Coke was more than the ticket. That's a bad business model.

I like the experience of it as its own thing, but it definitely isn't the best way, for me, to focus on the movie. Maybe that's because we usually have my boys and about 6 of their friends and they're all raising hell running around the whole time outside the car with all the other kids who are doing the same thing. Went and saw Inside/out at the drive in. Can't really tell you shit about it except it had a bunch of characters whose colors reflected their mood and a weird looking elephant clown.

I know how to do the math. I've just never spent $40 on a movie ticket, as was stated. Obviously, if more than one person attends...it will cost more!

But it's the only model they have because it's largely controlled by movie studios. As i stated, it's a piss ass model, but it's all they really have since the studios control the rights to the movies they show. And as such, they get to rake in all the profits.

We went to see Ted 2 a couple months ago. We had not been to the theater in about 6 years since the Mrs collects dvds. Holy shit! Major sticker shock

Sure, anyone can get the music for free, but at what expense? Possibly driving that studio out of business? I'm not asking you to have sympathy for them or anything like that. I'm just merely stating why their food policies are the way they are, and why their concession prices are so high.

I wait in line to buy a ticket...I go in...then there's another line to tear my ticket...WHY? I refuse to wait more than 10 seconds in line to have my ticket torn. I just walk right around the line. No one has ever said anything. I maintain there is absolutely no reason they need to tear my ticket. So, what's the deal with that? |

Hahaha. I took my son and a couple of his cousins to go see Big Hero 6 in 3d, followed up by a trip to Chuck-E-Chees. Woulda been better off just throwing him a Bday party.....

We'd actually count the ticket stubs at the end of the night, as corporate needed that information for whatever reason. We'd also have to take those stubs and account for refunds and attach them to refund slips etc so all the numbers would jive. The General Manager would then take those stubs and ship them off to corporate. What they needed with them? I have no idea. Secondly, to direct you to your theater so people aren't wondering around lost. A torn ticket also shows admittance, so if someone came back wanting a refund, we knew whether they watched the movie or not. (not that it mattered, see post regarding free tickets).

When you buy a cd at Best Buy, they don't ask you to buy a new cd player at a 400% markup so they can make money. Sure they'd like you to, but they know not everyone will, so they mark up the cd to make a profit. |
