Where's Baby Lee? I need his opinion of how Colbert is doing on Late Night
So far I think he still can't seem to escape his personality he left on Comedy Central. Even his desk is reminiscent of his origins.

Hell of a lot better than what Letterman had de-evolved into at the end, though.

I could probably speak for babylee if I wanted to, but I've been underwhelmed.
Monologue was kinda lame, the weird thing with the evil spirit wasn't funny and went on and on, George Clooney is an A-lister but kind of a lame guest, especially for a first show. He just got done with Jeb!. Meh.

I thought he did alright but I worry all the skits won't play very well with anyone over 35ish. Interesting mix for CBS which usually skews toward older people.

Letterman ****ed Colbert by hanging on for a year too long babbling bullshit top ten lists only he would laugh at while jimmy fallon extended his lead

I tried to watch Colbert and I really thought his previous shit was funny

His show was two ladles full of aids soup with a crabs garnish and Ebola bread

His show doesn't premiere here until 11:30, so I've yet to see it.

That said, I've thought he was a very odd choice from the beginning because no one actually knows Steven Colbert because he was in character for his Comedy Central show.

It doesn't surprise that Fallon crushes him. Kimmel will, too.

I can't do Fallon. He's way too sugary. It's like I need an insulin shot after watching his show, and I don't even have diabetes

I ****ing hate Jimmy Fallon and his dumb show. It's nothing but a soft, safe vehicle to push shitty corporate comedy. No wonder TV is dying.

My problem with him as a comedian is that he relies almost completely on other people's talent and creations. He basically just mimics others, which he's somewhat talented at but he doesn't add much of a joke to anything. Half of his "brilliant" bits are just him literally recreating something, and we're all supposed to go "hahaha I totally REMEMBER THAT NOSTALGIC THING and wow Fallon has a good voice!" But it often completely lacks a joke, or a twist, or anything. He almost seems like he is just a geeking out fan moreso than a real comedian. Half of his thing is literally impersonating other comedians. A comedy routine can't just be "accurate recreation + Fallon = laughs". There's gotta be something else added. Chris Hardwick fits that description as well.

Anyway, thought Colbert was decent and I'm totally ok with him bringing a lot of Colbert Report influence to his new show since that was great and better than any late night TV for the past 15 years.

Jimmy Fallon = Buzzfeed TV. The people on social media who LAWL over Jimmy Fallon clips also post shitty Buzzfeed crap.

"Late Night" TV used to be about adults.

Innuendo, drinks, smoking, telling stories, hanging out and partying, while occasionally revealing something unexpected.

Whether it was Steve Allen or Johnny Carson or Mike Douglas or Dick Cavett, it was REAL. Politics, drugs, society or behind the scene of making movies and TV, it was all right there. The Creme de le Creme exposed.

Letterman, believe or not, is the guy that lowered the bar. Animal tricks, human stunts and oddball guests connected with the teenage and college crowd. And while he blew up Howard Stern and Jay Leno (amongst others), once he moved to CBS his act became a shtick.

It's a shame.

He was slightly different obviously, he wasn't an O'Reilly character, but I don't think he was as different as people expected him to be. The show was still very eccentric and weird. The whole bit with the evil spirit was super weird, which is why I can see some people being completely lost and changing the channel back to Fallon, who is way more mainstream.

And he did a better job with the Jeb interview than any other late night host probably would. Colbert will have to score points there because he's a way better interviewer than Fallon.
