well crap....you beat me to it. since the moment that fight ended I kept thinking what a huge controversy the Leonard/Hagler was. sometimes my friends and myself still argue about it....to this day! in a perfect world Hagler wins.....BUT....I'll bet compubox numbers would say Leonard landed more punches.....BUT....Haglers punches had so much more FORCE behind them.....BUT....Leonard would wade in and throw a flurry of 20 or 30 and it LOOKED really cool....BUT....those flurrys didn't even phase Hagler....

I say Hagler won. but at least with that fight you CAN actually make a decent argument either way.

the fight we're talking about in this thread....there is no justification. it is simply and completely illogical.....unless it was somehow fixed. it's science bitches!

thank God for xmeforums and fights now only costing me tree fitty...but mostly thank God for MMA. on it's worst day MMA beats boxing all to hell.

Bradley receiving death threats

The fact that Timothy Bradley feels that he won his controversial bout against Manny Pacquiao shouldn’t be a surprise. No one expects Bradley to go around telling people that he won a fight that he shouldn’t have. So when Bradley joined ESPN Radio Chicago with Waddle and Silvy on Thursday to talk about the aftermath of the fight, it’s clear that Bradley really believes that his victory was deserved.

Bradley talked about how his corner felt he won the fight, as well as how when he heard the third judge's scorecard, he knew he had won. But everything hasn’t been peachy keen for Bradley after his victory -- he’s received death threats as a result of the win.

How he thinks he fared in the fight against Pacquiao:

“I fought my fight. I fought the best I could that night given my injuries but I’m not the one to blame. I’m not the one to blame for the results. The judges saw the fight the way they saw the fight and that is that. They had some really professional judges out there and some really good judges out there and Duane Ford is one of the best judges out there and he picked me. What do you want me to do? I thought the fight was close after the fight. I wasn’t sure if I won it or not. I was like ‘I’m in Vegas and never know how the judges are going to judge it. I know the fight’s really close.’ My corner was telling me ‘you won the fight, you won the fight’ and that was the reason they raised me up after the fight. I felt that I won the fight. I started hearing the actual scoring. The first one said ‘Pacquiao,’ second one was for me, I heard the same 15-13 and I was like ‘oh yeah I’ve got this without a doubt’ and you saw me raise my hands up before the last score and then boom I knew. There were some people sitting ringside that thought I won the fight and a lot of people didn’t feel like I won the fight and it is what it is. I think they were pretty much focused on Pacquiao and didn’t really focus on what I was doing in there. The judges were clued in and focused on the fight and they scored the fight according to what they saw.”

On the death threats that he has been receiving:

“Definitely on Facebook and Twitter, reading people’s comments, e-mails and people are sending me like death threats, telling me to die, telling me to give the belt back, ‘if you’re a man’ and all this hate mail. Just people being really rude like I’m the one to blame. ‘If you’re a real champion and want any respect from me then you’d give the belt back.’ I’m like ‘dude I earned the belt and I’m not giving the belt back.’ Anybody out there that thinks I should give the belt back, the belt is not going back. I deserve the belt. I won the fight regardless of what anyone thinks. The judges thought I won the fight and that is that. I’m not the one to blame here. Don’t be pointing the finger at me, don’t be sending me crazy e-mails and things like that because I really don’t care.”

Like we said earlier, it’s not surprising that Bradley is now saying he felt he won the fight, but we all know this isn’t going away anytime time soon. Bradley may have to prove it again in the ring before people even think about considering that he really beat Pacquiao last Saturday

WBO scores fight for Pacquiao

The WBO completed its review Wednesday of Timothy Bradley's controversial split-decision victory against Manny Pacquiao with its five-member international judging panel all scoring the fight for Pacquiao, even though the official result will stand.

Pacquiao told The Associated Press from the Philippines on Thursday that he would prefer a rematch rather than Bradley giving up the WBO welterweight title that he won on a split decision because "people may think I just usurped it."

Bradley's victory on June 9 instantly became one of the most controversial decisions in boxing history. While judges Duane Ford and C.J. Ross both had Bradley winning 115-113, Jerry Roth scored it 115-113 for Pacquiao, who suffered his first defeat since 2005.

"My supporters shouldn't worry. We're going to get that title," said Pacquiao, who has the option of an immediate rematch with Bradley in his contract.

The HBO broadcasters and nearly every media member at ringside had Pacquiao winning. The crowd at the MGM Grand booed the decision heavily and there was fan outrage around the world from people believing Pacquiao clearly had won.

In the aftermath of the fight, WBO president Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel, whose organization sanctioned the title match, said he would have five judges review the video of the bout. On Wednesday, the results of that review were released. The five judges, whom Valcarcel said are accomplished judges with world title experience -- but whose names were not disclosed -- scored the fight for Pacquiao, 118-110, 117-111, 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113

Valcarcel said the WBO has no authority to change the result. But given the outcome of the panel's review of the fight, he will order a rematch if Top Rank promoter Bob Arum declines to put on a second fight, or if Pacquiao opts not to exercise his rematch clause.

Top Rank and Pacquiao, however, simply could move on to another fight that just would not be for the WBO title.

"We can't change the result but we did this review for two reasons," Valcarcel told ESPN.com. "If they want to make a rematch, we will approve the rematch and if they don't, we will order one. Also, we wanted to show (the Nevada State Athletic Commission) that they could bring in other officials from outside of Nevada who can also do a fine job judging fights. It's good to have different officials."

Nevada generally selects officials from its own pool of in-state judges.
"We want to work together with Nevada and we think they should be open to other good officials from around the world," Valcarcel said. "But we are not questioning the honorability of the judges who scored the fight for Bradley. They are honest people. They are good officials, too, but I don't know what happened."

Valcarcel, who was ringside for the bout, said he scored it for Pacquiao, "but we have to respect the judges."

Pacquiao's probably going to fight Marquez again.
If Bradley wins his next bout and Pacman handles JMM, then we'll see a rematch.
