Pittbulls kill 2 year old and 5 month old

Quote:
Two young children are dead and their mother suffered major injuries after two family dogs attacked a baby and toddler outside their West Tennessee home.Kirstie Bennard, 30, suffered critical injuries when she tried to intervene in the attack on her 5-month-old boy, Hollace Dean, and 2-year-old girl, Lilly Jane, family and police said.

"She put her body on top of Lilly’s to try and protect her after the attack started," Bennard's uncle by marriage, Jeff Gibson told USA TODAY on Saturday. "Both (dogs) started attacking her while she lay on Lilly."The two children were pronounced dead when officials arrived at the home, the sheriff's office reported.

It was not immediately known what provoked the mauling. The mauling, Gibson said, lasted about 10 minutes. The dogs – two pit bulls that belonged to the family – were euthanized at Memphis Animal Services Thursday.

The family owned the pets, Cheech and Mia, for more than eight years without a violent incident, Kelsey Canfield, the mother's best friend, told Fox News.

"I can promise you those children were her world, and if there was any inkling of danger, she would have never had those dogs near her kids," Canfield told the outlet. "Those children were everything to them, and they just have a really long journey ahead."

How do you feel about PittBull's? I posted this because my wife shared this story with me and my son was just recently participating in a "read to sheltered dogs" event where you could adopt a dog (I know brilliant).

I've heard the arguments that PittBull's get a bad wrap, but it seems time and time again they are the focal point of dogs who do these horrible acts.

I will say this about cats, though. They are vicious predators. I'm sure I've told this story before, but many years ago I lived in an apartment in Chicago that was infested with mice. Traps and poison proved ineffective, so I convinced my roommates that we should get a cat. The next morning I walked out of my bedroom and saw a small, slick-looking gray thing on the carpet about the size of my thumb. It was the remnants of a mouse. The cat had chewed its legs off and somehow skinned it. She was sitting about three feet away from it, with a look on her face that said "you'll never see another one of those mother****ers in here." And we never did.

Sure, cats kill birds, and all other sorts of things. But that's kind of their job.

The problem is, they’re too good of predators and not native to most parts of the world. You may like it when they kill rats and mice but can’t stop them from killing birds and other species that don’t need their population controlled.

If people kept them indoors, it’d be perfect. They’d keep your house free of pests and billions of animals don’t get slaughtered for the fun of it (that’s the only reason house cats even hunt, just because they’re psychos).

I keep mine indoors. Indoor cats have three times the life expectancy of outdoor cats. Keep in mind, there are plenty of things in the wild that kill cats as well. Although ironically, the longest lived cat I ever personally knew of was a strictly outdoor cat that lived to be over 20. Belonged to my best friend; his mom refused to ever let it in the house. Gnarliest old tomcat ever.

That’s good. And you’re right: dogs, coyotes, hawks/eagles and even cougars are dangerous for outdoor house cats.

Probably don’t watch this if you have a weak stomach and really love your kitty, but as a warning to others, just knowing this could be your lil tabby cat should be enough for most to keep theirs indoors.

Not at all. Cats are badass. Jaguars, tigers and lions might each make my top 10 fave animals.

I owned a cat. She stayed indoors.

They are great animals but they don't belong outdoors. They mess with the ecosystem in a negative manner.

Read somewhere awhile ago that feral cats of the house cat variety are the most successful predators on Earth by volume; meaning the total number of kills, not the mass.

Son charged after mother killed by his pack of seven pit bulls
Sandra Miller died from her injuries a few days after the attack in October 2023

A man in Utah is facing seven charges over the death of his mother after his pit bulls attacked and killed her in October last year.

Jeremy Miller, 38, was charged with seven counts of attack by animal earlier this week.

His mother, 63-year-old Sandra Miller, was left with multiple injuries to her hands, face and legs in the attack in Taylorsville on 31 October.

One of her legs had to be amputated, according to KSL News Radio, but she died a few days later.

When police officers first arrived on the scene, they tried using pepper spray to corral the seven dogs.

"The dogs were still extremely aggressive, and it took multiple Taylorsville City Police officers and animal control officers to keep the dogs away from the victim and contained in the yard," charging documents seen by Fox 13 read.

After the victim was taken to safety, officers tried approaching the dogs and the mother tried to escape from the group, the outlet reported. At this point, the dog was shot at least six times.

Mr Miller was then called and he arrived at the home around 20 minutes later.

"[He] was clearly upset about his fence being damaged and his dogs being taken by animal control," documents read.

The other six dogs were reportedly put down later on.

While Mr Miller was not at home at the time, the charging documents reportedly say that he was responsible for the dogs and therefore is liable for the offence.............
