Former Chief Joe McKnight killed in road rage dispute

Road Rage

Wow.

http://www.tmz.com/2016/12/01/joe-mc...rage-shooting/

Quote:
Ex-NFL running back Joe McKnight was murdered in a road rage shooting in New Orleans ... law enforcement tells TMZ Sports.

The incident occurred at 2:43 PM. Family members identified the 28-year-old at the scene. A witness told NOLA.com ... she saw McKnight trying to apologize to another man after some sort of traffic incident.

The witness says the man then pulled out a gun and shot McKnight -- and while standing over him screamed, "I told you not to f**k with me" ... then fired another shot into his body.

McKnight was a high school phenom -- considered the best running back in the country. He played college ball at USC. He was drafted by the NY Jets in 2010.

Released? Shit's gonna blow up.

I'd love to hear an explanation as to why a guy who shot an unarmed man - then stood over him and shot AGAIN is free to walk the streets.

Uh....yeah.

The first shot...um, okay. Self defense doesn't require that the other guy be armed if he's done something to show he might represent an immediate threat of serious harm. Personally I don't buy it but I could see being released for further investigation.

But ****ing standing over the guy and putting another shot into him? Jesus; how do you let the guy walk out of the station there? That's pretty bad.

Yeah seems like a lot of bullshit going on. If he feared for his life he should have stayed in his vehicle and never got out. Wait for the police to defuse any hostility.

Could be another Ferguson where the witness account was false other than that it's questionable.

So far the evidence is two shots fired.

If I ever have to fire as a civilian I'll never fire just 2. I'm killing you because I believe the intention is to kill me...

Damn. That guy is like George Zimmerman but WAY less provoked/threatened? I mean, McKnight had no gun, was not attacking. And this guy just walks? Something else has to be up.

If you stand over a civilian, swear at him and then put another pill in him....well good luck with that.

You're approaching a downed man close enough to stand over top of him, I'm pretty sure "fear of imminent bodily harm" isn't your mental state at the moment.

If he were actually in fear of him, he wouldn't have walked up to him, gotten to within range to be injured by him and then shot him again.

Like I said, the first shot may be defensible (we can't know either way) but the second shot seems like straight up murder to me if the witness is credible.

What a senseless loss of a life.

And released? There has to be WAY more of this story that isn't being reported. At least, I hope there is way more to this story.

Again were assuming that report is true. Ferguson should have changed the way look at these kind of reports.

How Louisiana's Stand Your Ground law reads:

Quote:
“A homicide is justifiable . . . [w]hen committed in self-defense by one who reasonably believes that he is in imminent danger of losing his life or receiving great bodily harm and that the killing is necessary to save himself from that danger,” the law states. “A person who is not engaged in unlawful activity and who is in a place where he or she has a right to be shall have no duty to retreat before using deadly force as provided for in this Section, and may stand his or her ground and meet force with force.”

eeesh.

So don't get into in argument in Louisiana, or you can legally be murdered. I guess they're going to have to prove that he was/wasn't in imminent danger.
