Anyone here doing the E-Cig / Vape thing?

Thanks to my vape, I've had only one single cigarette in the past 3 weeks. I have zero cravings for them and I feel considerably better. In fact, I still have about 5 smokes left in a pack and just can't see myself smoking those... don't want to.

Even better... 5ml of juice, which costs $5, lasts me about 2 weeks meaning that I am spending less in the long run. I only smoked, at most, a pack a week... but still.

I tried the Blu E-Cigs but they were terrible. Trying to "smoke" out of one of those was like trying to take a hit off a joint that was rolled WAY to tight.

I'm using an eGo-V v2 mega battery with variable voltage control with a gravity tank.

This is confusing me:

0.6 ohm Ceramic Coil
  • 50 to 100W
  • Reverse Sandwich Design
    • Triple 1.8 ohm Coil
      • Debuted with the Herakles Pro
    • Japanese Organic Cotton Core
    • Food Grade Porous Ceramic Sleeve
    • Unparalleled Purity of Flavor Recreation
  • Dual Parallel Configuration per Coil
  • Three Auxiliary Wicking Holes
    • Increases Wicking Transfer by Decreasing Surface Area

Are they saying that this atomizer has three 0.6 coils for a total of 1.8 Ohms resistance? That doesn't sound right for a 50-100 Watt vape.

I would love to get my hands on a 1.4 to 1.8 ceramic coil that's compatible with one of my tanks.

How is it working for you? It intrigued me just because the idea of having 5 batteries is so ridiculous but changing how many coils you fire up sounds kind of cool.

I think you're entering the geek realm of pointless options, but I could be wrong? Plus, it's not a big deal if you want to be an enthusiast.

The ceramic materials, japanese cotton, improved design and engineering to achieve better flavor, extend the life of replacing coils, avoiding leaks, more efficiently using the juice, etc, all make sense.

My growing worry is starting to be reliable and safe batteries. The incidents of battery fires and explosions are really rising.
Last week, another plane had to make an emergency landing after a vape battery spontaneously ignited in a guys bag. Wasn't even in the use or in the device.

A growing demand has led to a rise in cheap batteries, and worse counterfeit knockoffs of reliable and reputable companies that make safe batteries.

Vape shops online and even local don't always have people in charge who may unknowingly order stock that's not legit or worried about their bottom line and selects a vendor who isn't reliable.

*EDIT

Never mind, I missed where you said that the battery was not in a mod. That's not necessarily from a poorly made battery though. The positive end of an 18650 also has a negative component. It is covered by the battery wrap. This could have been caused by a 'good' battery with a worn out wrap on the positive end.

Oh, I forgot about the coil thing (I'm very tired) with that mod/tank. It intrigues me because it's like being able to swap out your atomizer at the push of a few buttons.

I honestly wasn't aware. That seems like a terrible design flaw. Those wrappers do not have the durability to the point that anyone should expect them to be remain intact for the duration of the battery's life cycle.

By the way, the battery in the incident was being kept in a standalone recharger. ESoda or something, that could hold up to 4 batteries in separate spring loaded slots. It wasn't plugged in charging or in use, just packed in the bag and holding 2 batteries in place while in transit.

Like I said, I'm starting to get a little uneasy with the battery reliability from unknown or untrusted sources, and it seems that the design isn't ideal for constantly changing them in and out if the wrapper is so critical to avoiding a random incident.

I hate the idea of a hardwired battery for easy swap and go and for the future when it won't hold a charge.

Seems like a change in battery type or improved design is very necessary.

There's been at least one reported battery incident every week so far this year while on a commercial flight. Last year, there were 16 incidents reported for the entire year.

I have battery cases that I keep mine in when out of the mod or charger. They are rugged plastic boxes with internal semi partitions that keep the batteries from touching each other, and mine hold either four or two batteries when full. I also have a couple of latex sleeves for holding single batteries. I wouldn't keep mine in the charger because a circuit can be completed that way if the charger fails. I also visually inspect my batteries every time they go through a charge/discharge cycle. There is a plastic disk on the positive end (under the wrap) that keeps the battery from shorting. You can purchase heat shrink wrap and those disks to replace if they become worn.

I don't re-wrap 18650's. I dispose of them when they show significant signs of wear.

Oh, here's a thing related to vape safety (I think): I have been using that EVOD Pro and I like it. But the 1.5 Ohm coils are a bit weak as the battery drains because your Wattage comes from the charge level of your battery and the type of coil used rather than being controlled by the user. So a 1.5 coil starts out nice but goes weak on me about halfway through the discharge cycle. They offer 0.15 TC, 0.5, 1.0. and 1.5 atomizers. So I ended up ordering from two companies to get some 1.0 and 0.5 to try them out. Well the dick heads at Element Vape sent me Temp Control 0.15 coils (instead of the 1.0 Ohm) that arrived today. Not only are they listed as incompatible with my my EVOD Pro, I think there could actually be a danger in using the 0.15 Ohm TC in a device not meant for TC. I honestly don't know what would have happened had I plopped them in there without noticing. Blinking lights and a refusal by the mod to fire up? The mod attempts to fire it and keeps shutting it off as soon as it gets too hot? The coil gets so hot so quickly that I get damage to my coil, my tank, my battery, and the circuitry of my device? Could this have caused my perfectly healthy battery to fail and vent, or even explode? I don't know. The best outcomes would be either that the device doesn't fire at all because it recognizes that the coil shouldn't be in there or the device adjusts to make it work and I get to vape whatever crap gets burned off of a malfunctioning TC coil. Not a happy camper and normally use providers that I have a history with. I haven't done much through Element Vape. I sent them off an email with pics asking them when they will be sending me the product I actually ordered. I attached a picture of the envelope, the receipt in the bag showing that it wasn't my fault, and the two unopened unusable boxes of coils. Now I'll be trying the 0.5 Ohm atomizers first which I didn't think I'd like but wanted to try: sub-ohming on a MTL.

Someone just needs to make a Six Shooter.

6 chambers for different flavors that revolve so you can swap on the go to fire up a different juice. You'd have to have separate coils, but the live chamber wouldn't be difficult to rotate and allow both ends of contacts to power up the one you want to vape.

I had thought of something like that a while ago. People don't seem to want to **** with multiple tanks. It would be very easy with something like that Vaporesso Aurora I have. The one that looks like a Zippo. The tanks are 1.2 mls and they are tiny, with a tiny little atomizer in them. They are about 1.5 inches long and 1/2 inches wide. They are held in place by magnets. Make a mod that looks like a revolver with each tank loaded in like a bullet, you just drop them in. The pistol stock holds the battery. No controls necessary. The barrel is the draw activation feature. It wouldn't have to be very big. It could like like a little toy revolver. That allows you to carry six different flavors that last about as long as half a pack of smokes that are accessible at any time. Heck, you could probably fit an 18650 in the pistol stock and still keep the mod very small.

This is the tank and atomizer on the Vaporesso Aurora. That's the one that looks like this:

This is the tank with atomizer installed:

Make a rotating cylinder that you load those tiny tanks in like bullets. Current is only supplied to the one in the 'firing' position. An 18650 or 3000+ mAh built in battery supplies power. You rotate the cylinder to the flavor you want. With six 'bullets' it will hold 7.2 mls of juice. Those atomizers fire at about 12 Watts so you are getting about 3.5 packs of cigarettes worth of juice and power when fully loaded. The cocking and trigger mechanisms would detach, move and attach the changing tanks.
