They really think a QB like this is going to fall to 23?

If Teddy Bridgewater is sitting there @23, I'm thinking we trade down for the best offer from somebody jumping over Cincy to take him.

Think if it's me in the war room though, w/ no extension yet for Alex Smith, I pull the trigger.

I would NOT take Manziel, would definitely trade out.

Seven pages of arguing about whether or not to draft a QB at #23 when he's going in the top ten.

I wonder what Tom Condon is asking for in term of Alex Smiths contract.

I'm betting he's asking for Jay Cutler/Tony Romo money.

If he's asking for anything over $15m/year, then there are options in this draft, and we have one o the league's sharpest minds in the NFL on hand to help at molding QBs to help us identify a QBotF.

QBs I'd heavily consider as potential QBotF for Reid to mold outside of the "big 3":

Carr
Mettenberger
Smith
Murray

I like Mettenberger a lot as a developmental guy.

I think the idea that a first round choice makes a guy magic is silly, and that you can't win the Super Bowl without a magic 1st rounder is also silly, and most people know that deep down. The problem is that we hardly ever take QBs at ANY draft position.

We should be picking one in some round most years. If we had done that historically instead of drafting garbage defensive linemen or scrubs who project to kick returners, we'd probably have found someone eventually.

There is the possibility that the Chiefs are waiting to pull the trigger on a Smith extension until after the draft. Just in case somebody falls that they don't expect.

long shot imo

two 2nd round picks to rent a QB for 2 years is crazy

Yeah it is.

Of course, giving him $125M would be crazy too. It really all depends on what he's asking for...

Hmmm...now that I think about it, Bilgewater reminds me a lot of Blackledge - scrawny college QB with a subpar release and bad feet.

1 a. Kony Ealy, DE; Missouri
- Surprise trade with the Patriots. CP gives up their first round pick in 2015 to move back into the first round to pick up hometown favorite Ealy. Despite being slow as shit (official 4.92 40 at the Combine) and having zero ability to drop back into coverage, CP fans rejoice taking this one year wonder, one trick pony, eagerly thinking that they will now finally have a guy who can take over for Tamba Hali because we all know that Hali doesn't project to a 34 OLB and is also very long in the tooth and his production is on a day to day basis at this point of his career.

3. Dri Archer, WR; Kent State
- Why Archer when McCluster was so routinely hated and they are basically the same player? Well, it's because Archer was the fastest guy at the Combine. And he jumps high. That means good.

4. CJ Fiedorowicz, TE; Iowa
- Our tight ends suck. Kelce didn't play last year which means no one remembers he's actually on the roster. Fasano is a hangnail away from the IR and Duck McGrath shaved his beard. Like the mighty Sampson, he is now rendered impotent and worthless. And Alex Smith needs tight ends to be successful. I know this because I read it on CP.

5. Tyler Gaffney, RB; Stanford
- Destined to become a CP favorite. He's a running back and he's white. Beyond this novelty, he brings a Cory Schlessinger mentality to the position, favoring to tear off his facemask in somebodies grill versus all that shucking and jiving most RB's do. He also ran a 4.49 at the Combine. Sure, that's probably a mistake because we know that: 1. White running backs don't exist, and 2. Any mythical white running back that might exist runs a 5.0 or above.

6. Marqueston Huff, S; Wyoming
- A total steal at this point. A safety that runs a 4.49 in the sixth round? A steal!

6. Shamar Stephens, DT; UConn
- **** me if Tyson Jackson doesn't suck! We need to replace that ****ing guy once and for all. Oh, he's with the Falcons? Pfft. No wonder they keep sucking and choking in the playoffs every year. Anywho, this dude is big. Prototype for the five tech. House dem mother ****ers!
Most awesome.
