Ours is always during the work day. 21st this year. As soon as the date was announced, I put in for a vacation day.

In general, i like company parties... free food, free booze if your lucky, and a chance to get to know some of the stiffer people in a boozy, more relaxed environment.

Heh! I did the exact same thing for our department party. There are about 25 of us of which two are women and they decided to impose a white elephant gift exchange. Screw that!

We also have a company party at an expensive ballroom. I've never attended.
