I drive south on I-95 for about 8 miles going home from work.....the traffic was starting to back up near downtown Jacksonville going north from a combination of people heading toward Georgia to escape the hurricane and the normal backups at 4 PM.

Every Walmart or grocery store I passed had a full parking lot and the gas stations were very busy too.

Yesterday I saw a guy carrying out 3 cases of water and 4 cases of beer. He said the beer was for the hours he would be stuck alone with the wife riding out the storm.

As of this morning when it shifted east with landfall predicted to make it a cat 3 and 120 mph winds, I posted I was inclined to ride it out ( but go to a shelter on higher land) with a 20 % chance of leaving. Now I am leaning toward leaving. Hopefully, tomorrow in the middle of the night. I just have so much to do and been doing it all day while sick throwing up violently from something I ate. I waited in front of Winn Dixie close to me at 5:15 AM to 6:15 AM outside. Asked the workers going in when their anticipated water delivery would arrive. Said not until 5PM.

So went to WalMart who had a long line in the store with a monitor and they were rationing the water too. On way out saw another delivery of water and got two more like some others. Wasn't too bad a line that early. But can't find any D size batteries for my lanterns.

Then I went back to the same WD later, to get something else I forgot around 9 AM people were coming out with water. WTF?

same here. No water or gas. 3-4 hour wait to get 10 sandbags. People fighting in Walmart over water. And it looks like it's going to be a "regular" storm we are all use to down here.

I think seeing the damage of Hurricane Harvey and this storm is larger freaked people out. They should be prepared and make plans to get out but panicking and fighting over water??? Just a little over the top.
