-- I realize I'm late to the show - 90's alternative help.......?

Hey guys - I'm looking for some bands similar to STP or Dinosaur Jr. I like the tracks that were popular enough to remember - however not the ones that were beaten to death by mainstream. It's a fine line.

Here's an example of what I'm looking for in this genre...

http://tinyurl.com/mnkvzy

If you all can help, that'd be great - I was listening mostly to hip-hop and electronica, even back then. So I missed a decade - aside from the Counting Crows and maybe Smashing Pumpkins - so eliminate those, please.

Sisters of Mercy...???

The video I posted is precisely the style, and level of popularity (at that time) that I am looking for

Any help?

I don't love all the bands listed, just know they were popular back in the day.

You don't get a lot of underground music when living in OK and Ks.

I will add "The Nixons". They had one good song called "Sister".

I'm laughing because they were signed to the music publishing company I worked for and given an astonishing advance. Then, they flopped.

Write off.
