Marcus Peters and his Oakland roots
As much as I love watching this guy terrorize QB's Ive been keeping a guard up with him...trying not to become too much of a fan because of his love of Oakland and his fandom of the Raiders. My 11 year old asked for a Marcus Peters jersey for Xmas, but Ive debated bringing this up to him and trying to talk him into a Houston or Berry jersey instead because of this reason.

Ive always felt that as soon as he's a free agent he would go home and play for the team he grew up loving and want to stick it to every other team in the West that he grew up despising including KC.

Does anyone think after being on this roster with a unifying coach like Reid and a close locker room like they have that someone could forget about that hatred and the love of their favorite team? Is there anyway he has started or will start to view the Raiders as the enemy and grow to love the Chiefs? Or is it strictly business at this level?

I'm obviously not a professional athlete and none of us are (unless there are some lurking current and/or ex Chiefs here) so I have no idea what that would be like. Seems like it would be a very awkward position to be in but who knows, maybe its not for him and he already is 100% sure what he's going to do.

By the time the Chiefs let him see free agency he'll have played 6 years here (4 years plus the option plus the tag).

I wouldn't worry a great deal about it. At worst, he wants to head back to Cali and they'll get a 28 year old corner who probably has some good years left in him but we'll have gotten his best years at a massive discount. They'll get to pay for the decline years based on the best years he gave us.

Meh...I can live with that.

As for the jersey, both Berry and Houston will be off this roster before Marcus Peters is.

The number of players who got drafted to their home teams/favorite teams is the vast minority. All these guys are mercenaries. They'll play for whoever plays them the most and gives them the most opportunity to be great.
