If we lose to Denver, Carolina and Indy...

It will be the first time in franchise history that we go winless at home.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/page/...hefter-10-spot

Quote:
A quarterback drafted by Kansas City hasn't started and won a game for the Chiefs in more than 25 years. Kansas City must now face three quarterbacks drafted No. 1 overall in an attempt to avoid going winless at home for the season for the first time in franchise history.

The Chiefs have lost six straight home games dating to last season and are 0-5 at home this season. Kansas City's next home game will be Sunday against Manning and the Broncos, followed by a Dec. 2 matchup versus former No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton and the Panthers, and then a Dec. 23 meeting versus former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck and the Colts.

These are dreary times in Kansas City, where the Chiefs are 1-9 and tied with the 1987 and 2008 teams for the worst start in franchise history. The last time the Chiefs were this bad they fired Herm Edwards after the season and replaced him with general manager Scott Pioli and head coach Todd Haley. Now the fans in Kansas City are clamoring for more change, and owner Clark Hunt is said to be "evaluating" his entire operation.
That last sentence is intriguing.

I think it's in Clark's best interest to play out the string with the current crew, then see if he can lure a top-flight GM and coach with the prospect of the #1 overall pick (hoping).

I agree, it a way.

I think the longer we go before anyone is fired means the likelihood of teh Pioli being gone is much higher...

i dont think you truly realize the turnover they had

lets break it down

New FO.
New Coaching
New rookie QB

those 3 things are what we want, but on top of that lets look at their roster around the QB and the new coaching regime

New scheme: Check. 34 in the vein of the Ravens/Steelers tree. New offensive scheme as well

Old players.

defense-
OLBers Freeney, Mathis, Jerry Hughes
NT - Johnson
DE - Moala
MLB - Pat Angerer, Kavelle Connor
CB - NOBODY. ****ING NOT ONE PLAYER
SS - NO ONE
FS - Antoine Bethea

so thats it. So that means the turnover was 3 NEW LBERS, 1 NEW 5 tech, a backup OLBer, 5 new CBs, 2 new SS, a new FS, etc. Pat Angerer, who had 148 tackles last season has been demoted to like 2nd string and split snaps with the new coachings new talent.

that's 6 new starters on defense. and all new depth at every position

They went out and traded for Vontae Davis.

The offense has all new WRs but Reggie Wayne. New TEs. New RBs but Donald Brown and an half the o-line rebuilt.

out of 22 starters that team turned over half of them one season. easy.

It's not JUST the QB. That's what people will need to realize.

Guys like Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson and Javier Areans and Kendrick Lewis and Tony Moeaki and Peyon Hillis will be replaced.

If that is his plan he needs to have it ready to go as soon as the season is over if not before. I think there are a few other one hand win teams that are going to be looking to upgrade.

How many of the top notch GM types will be look at the Chiefs like Manning did? I'd really like to see something positive come of this season. My biggest concern is that they win a few between now and 1-15 and lose the first draft pick.

I don't think so. The colts were not as bad as people thought last year. They lost 7 games by 1 possession. Yes, they had some blowouts, but that's more of a byproduct of having Curtis painter as your qb, who makes cassel look like Len Dawson, than not having any talent. Honestly living in Indy I saw many of their games and you could watch the same thing happening with our team this season. Game starts, offense does nothing, turns the ball over, defense just gives up. Throw in a couple of games where the play calling was so suspect that even the colts fans who I live with suggested they were trying to throw the games, and that's how they only won 2 games.

Now this season they really haven't been that impressive. Blown out by the jets patriots and bears. Wins against zero playoff teams except for the emotional packers win. They only have 2 more opportunities to play a team in playoff contention the rest of the year and the texans may very well have clinched by the time they play. Their season looks an awful lot like our afc west championship season with the easy schedule.

Same with Wayne. Hell, most here said they wouldn't touch Wayne with a 10 foot pole when he was a FA this past offseason. He has been great for Luck.

While I may be off on some of the particulars, I think the point I was trying to make fits.
Wayne is the only holdover who is doing anything worth his salt in Indy....Freeney and Mathis are a shell of what they once were. Even their most loyal fans in Indy think they are past their prime.

Sorry...I disagree. I watched their games this year and last and see a quite different team. Last year they were pathetic....almost to the point of making the Chiefs look competitive.

The difference in this year and last for the Colts is that they are playing with a rookie QB who isn't really playing like one. Yes he still makes the normal rookie mistakes, but not nearly as much as one would believe in a rookie with an average line. They are winning some of the games teams with rookie QB's normally lose.

Are they great....no. But judging them based on the Pats, Bears and Jet's games is crazy. Every team has a game or 2 they just pretty much suck in, especially when they play away.

The one thing that you could have touched on to make your point that would be something to agree on that makes them different....their coach and his personal struggles with cancer. One can't overlook how his present condition has made them overachieve in some sense of the word.

I've never liked Robert Irsay, but I will give him credit for having the stones to do something our owner would never have the heart to do....he let Peyton Manning go. That decision wasn't as easy as it looked and with Manning playing well with the Donks that could have backfired on him.

Not true

They have been injured. Most fans want Freeney gone because they don't see him as a olber.

Mathis and Freeney can still get after the passer but are having a hard time with injuries and the new system.
