If anyone believes our defense is better than their defense and would have somehow performed better against the Panthers in the Superbowl you are a rose-tinted superfan extraordinaire of countless proportions. KC when healthy can beat Denver on any day but their defense is better, plain and simple.
Exhibit A: the pass rush. |

I can't stand the guy but he definitely is not trash... As far as I can tell he's a very good GM. Hate to say it but it's the truth.
That said we'll see how he does next couple of years but so far so good. |

I remember Lamar taking player management away from Stram and givng it to the businessman, Steadman, to enhance his bank account. And we haven't won anything significant since. Now, since Clark hired the coach maybe he begins to put more pressure on the GM and HC???? My problem with Hunt is what gold and red said, "Clark seems to agree with you. I am just more scared of Sutton and Reid than of the opponent." We are placing our hopes and dreams on a coach who has decades (not years but decades) experience as a HC and only one losing SB. Do we really think he is going to win one??? I do not like Elway because "Denver," but he has turned the donks around twice. Yeah, I know ... Manning ... but he went out and got him. He had the balls to fire his HC after winning the AFCW. I don't think Hunt would have done that and I believe Fox wouldn't have won the SB. I agree the real issue is Sutton. As I recall, he has failed in every big game. Phillips was the MVP in that game. I think we are doomed with our coaching staff. Quote:
Yes, we haven't won in over 4 decades but I will disagree with Denver wining the past 40+ years. Denver only started winning when Elway came on the scene. I remember when Denver was at the bottom. |

I think he is an ass, but has proven to unfortunately be a very good GM. As for the Chiefs D and the Donks D, I think the margin is slim. The biggest cause for the difference in performance IMO is as follows: 1.) Donk D was healthy. Injuries to JH and TH made our edge rushers a shadow of their peak level. 2.) Donk D had the third lock down corner. Could argue this is another health issue, but Donks had Roby in the slot whereas after Gaines went down we had to put a safety in the slot. 3.) Defensive coordinator. Phillips better than Sutton at mixing coverages and blitzes. 4.) Donk D is more athletic overall at ILB, which allowed them more options when rushing the passer. Overall, the Donk D was superior, but as the above shows, we are nipping on their heels.

Regarding Reid's lack of SB success over a prolonged period, if Kubiak can luck into one because of being in the right place at the right time, why can't Reid? Maybe the stars align! |

I would agree that the Chiefs are getting closer for sure. Not to the Broncos per se, but closer to getting a championship than the previous 15 years or so.

The Broncos have 15 AFC West championships, 10 AFC Championship appearances, 8 Super Bowl appearances, 3 Super Bowl championships The Chiefs have 5 AFC West championships, 1 AFC Championship appearance, 0 Super Bowl appearances, and 0 Super Bowl championships The Broncos have been kicking ass for a very long time. Yes, Elway was a big part of it, but so was the ownership, team management, drafting, and other players. |

As much as I absolutely despise the Donks, those facts are right. It is especially sad to many of us Chiefs fans who believe we had better teams than many of those Donk teams that went to Super Bowls. This year I believe many of us feel the same way, but facts are facts. For whatever reason, even when the Chiefs have put teams on the field equal or greater to what the Donks have, the Donks have found a way to make it happen in the postseason when the Chiefs have not been able to.

By the way, pre 1983 (32 years ago when Horseface arrived), the Donks had been in one Super Bowl with one AFC championship win and appearance.

Another thing. The Donks have 3 AFC West titles (2 before, 1 after playing but before GM) without Elway and one AFC Championship appearance (2005). The Donks success has been impressive, but those who say Elway had a lot to do with it are also spot on in many ways.

Hey look, it just speaks to what a franchise QB can do for you. Donx are nothing if they don't trade for Elway. And then post Elway they are nothing again, until Elway comes back and convinces Manning to come over, leading again to this.
And look, everyone saying hey, look at the Donx, they prove you can win without a great QB and all that stuff, I'll rebut by saying that without Manning, they don't attract the guys to build that defense into what it became, and without Manning's work ethic in the off season and on the practice field, and drive to perfectionism the last four years, that team probably isn't as good as it has been. This season was the perfect storm of them being a real good defense and having a bunch of mediocrity around the league. That doesn't happen every year. But it was all in place because Manning was there... |
