No, this isn't a thread about the high cost of parking (sorry Guru). It's about the process.

My experience:

Going in, the people pointing me in all directions was a complete clusterfuck. I ended up getting separated from my other party and driving through A to find no spaces. Besides, I didn't want to be outside Royals Stadium, so had to go 1mph to the perimeter and work my way back to the center. Begged a golf cart security to escort me to D, they were nice and they did, but I ended up following the pointing parking monkeys and ended up on the middle of C.

After the game it took us 98 minutes to get out of the parking lot.

98 minutes.

That's with me reversing out of a line of cars which hadn't moved in 35 minutes and driving over a strip of grass to get into a real exit lane.

Is it always like this? It's friggen ridiculous.

The only consolation was I was in my 72 VW bus so I had the amusement of people coming up to me every 2 minutes to talk about the bus or give me a thumbs up or high-five, or call me: Scooby Doo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Beatles, Cheech and Chong, "hang ten, bro", Jerry Garcia, etc. I guess there aren't any old VW busses in KC.

But the parking. Yikes, was almost as bad as that loss. Almost.

It got much worse last year... they would only have a couple gates open and would create huge bottlenecks. All that space and several gates and they treated it like it was a downtown stadium with one way in and one way out.

Why didn't you just chillax in the bus for 90 minutes, smoke some doobies and drink beer before you left?

Nights are worse. But since the end of the King Carl days its been a mess. We just started tailgating after the game. Planned ahead and had stuff to drink and eat. People would stop by just like the tailgate before the game. There was some comfort in venting together.

Last night was the fastest I've ever gotten out. Traffic on the interstate wasn't bad either. Just lucky I guess.

I recommend not going to their remaining 6 home games. It'll save you $180 bucks and reduce stress.

Took 10 minutes to get out last night. I think they have made some great improvements on it. Especially getting in. Having lines for pass holders only is great.

Parking pisses me off out there. We had a gold parking pass for the final preseason game, but were told they oversold the gold lot and had to go park way back in lot F. No refund, no nothing, just tough shit for you attitude.

Parking has turned into a nightmare since the days of Pioli, and has gotten worse since they passed the stadium reno bill. Parking is easily one of the worst aspects of going to a game, and there is no reason for it to be.

This has been one of my biggest complaints to Arrowhead since they changed the parking/traffic flow last year.

I used to come up 435N and right when it would get backed up you get off the highway and onto outer roads that take you straight to gate 5. I would enter gate 5 which puts you right in front of Lot F, I'd park there, which was the lot that was the best route to my seat, too. It was perfect. For 4 years I could get in and out of any game in about 10 - 20 min.

The only way to get to Lot F at this point is to re-route your entry to the stadium (and go through the shit) to come in Gate 6 and then MAYBE you'll end up in Lot F (where my tickets specifically tell me I should park for the best route to my seat).

Now, I enter Gate 5, Lot F is right there in front of me with loads of spots open, but they force me to drive all the way around the stadium to D and C lots. Then I have to walk twice as far to my seat as I typically would.

Then after the game you're forced that direction again, which puts you up by I-70 where the shit is just crazy. Now it takes me minimum 45 minimum to get out, and often times over an hour.

It's effecting my overall experience enough that I'm seriously considering giving up on going at all.

DRU nailed it.

If I were a STH I would be livid at the way they try to manage parking out there.
