What if you have a hike mileage car, say 160,000+, that you've been using standard oil for at least the past 4 years. Would making a switch to synthetic be a smart move?

Without reading any posts and trying hard not to be sexist I would not at all be shocked to find that this car was being driven by a woman.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic, and change it around every 5-7000 miles. Still change the oil myself.

It's actually not all that much more to take it to a quick lube place, but every goddamn time I take it to one of those places I've had trouble getting the filter off the next time because those cocksmokers always put an oil filter wrench on it and tighten the holy **** out of it. So I do it myself if at all possible.

I had a new customer come in the other day with a 2010 challenger rt with 33k on it for an odd noise from the engine and it had never had an oil change. It's wild how oblivious people are. We put a jasper reman in it that cost him 6819 bucks

I use Castrol Edge in my truck with a Fram Tough Guard filter..change every 3000 miles even though everything says I can go 5000-10000..all together it's like $35 and I'm completely fine with paying that because I plan on keeping the truck for a long time..so I want to keep the engine in as good of shape as possible..it only has 70000 miles and I plan on keeping it until it has over 200000..I put on about 7000 a year
If people only keep their vehicles for 4-6 years..and drive less than 15000 miles a year regular oil is going to be good enough if they change every 3000..it won't make sense financially to put in synthetic oil..if people keep vehicles longer then I would suggest paying an extra $5-15 every few months |
