Yeah, doubt they were thinking "in some far distant future people will be able to FLY!". More like they they dedicated the work to the sun, which they thought was a god, or to the birds, which they thought were the avatars of one or more of their gods, or whatever. Look, people engaged in human sacrifice to appease the gods, to make it rain or whatever. They also built the pyramids because a small handful of people thought it was a good idea. The Great Pyramid was the tallest building in teh world for like 3,000 years, which includes about 2.3 million blocks averaging 5,000 to 30,000 pounds EACH. People do whacky things for religious reasons, or because some nutjob who is in charge can make whatever he wants happen, happen.

More than likely. Doesn't mean it's not lousy writing for a web site that bases itself on facts and truth to make a false claim without any facts or proof.

http://philipcoppens.com/nazca.html Von Däniken was right when he suggested that the animals and lines had to be seen from the sky. They were seen during the shamanic flight, on his voyage to the Otherworld. Shamanic theory states that the shaman leaves his body and “floats” or “soars” through the sky, where often the eagle or another animal is his totem animal – the animal mimics or symbolises the flight of the soul. If these lines were an airstrip, they were an airstrip for the soul – to take off to and return from the Otherworld. Morrison and other archaeologists/anthropologists are not concerned whether or not the soul does indeed leave the body – or whether the soul even exists. What is important is that the shamanic cultures believed it existed, and lived accordingly – and built accordingly. |

Great point.
Yes even in this modern age people believe in a religion that condones enslaving and raping young girls. When they murder a non-believer they are not punished but will receive a bounty of virgins in the afterlife. Crazy. |

Also...Jaime Maussan.
Can't get much worse than that. He's never seen a story he wouldn't push as real. See: the Roswell Slides debacle. |
