All Things Video Games & Game Reviews

Hey guys...
Thought we could use a thread to help one another out with purchasing new and used games. Now that the next gen consoles are out and the holiday season will soon be upon us, many new games are going to drop. We've been throwing 'reviews' in several different threads or making new threads for each game. I thought we might like to converge and discuss them as a whole. Whether you're on PS3, 360, PS4, XB one or even a wii, PC and Mac, this is a repository for what you're playing and how you rate it.

Let's try to do a 1-10 scale for each game. Take into account the following:

Storyline
Challenge
Replayability
Graphics
Online functionality
Downloadable content
AI/npc's
Price
Length of gameplay

You can use all or some of those as a guide to score the game. If there are other aspects you'd like to tell as about with your game, please do so. These are just suggentions.

Please note what system, (if necessary i.e. It being exclusive to a system) you're playing on and let us know what you think.

1. Sucks, I'd rather watch Brodie Croyle play as our starter. This game is dogshit.
2. Don't waste your time. It's obviously been programmed by a bunch of chimps with syphilis.
3. I'd rather eat tapioca pudding out of my grandmothers colostomy bag, then stick my tongue in her stoma.
4. Meh, there's really better stuff to do, (like waxing my pubes) but I was lazy.
5. This is kinda like purgatory. It's not the best place to be but it could be worse.
6. Not bad at all... It's like I just scored a BJ from my hot first cousin.
7. Entertaining as all hell, kinda like the feeling where you just drank enough not to puke and can still walk.
8. Buy this game, I'm super-cereal. It's got stuff that makes my nipples tingly.
9. HELL F'ing YEAH! I'd talk more about it but I'm gonna be locked in place for a week just playing this ****er.
10. This game is like godfather two and the empire strikes back joined forces to **** your face off with wow. I'm taking all of my PTO days and going on FMLA.

EDIT: We can also discuss upcoming/all things gaming in here as well.
Enjoy!

It's a shame about Unity. I was hesitant about Rogue since the protagonist switched sides and joins the Templars but it was pretty cool, I guess.

I liked that they mentioned or outright included so many previous AC characters throughout the game. Edward Kenway, Haytham Kenway, Achilles, Connor, and Adewalé were all "in" the game somehow.

I'm about 3 hours in on Unity and it's really not as bad as people are saying. It's an AC game, you know? The storyline isn't all that great but I'm not having all the glitch issues others seem to have.
The huge crowds are pretty impressive. I also like the upgrade system.
I'm going to wait a while before I give it any shit for now. There's a few things that have pissed me off but so far it's not bad.

That's good. I'm looking forward to it for sure.

I forgot to mention they include Arno in Rogue as well. A nice little nod to the future.

Alien Isolation - Review PS4

I was going to totally give this game a shit review at first... I really was.
But I decided to give it another chance. I'm glad I did, actually.

Excerpt from Wiki to get you started:

Quote:
Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen Ripley, is approached by Weyland-Yutani synthetic Christopher Samuels, who informs her that the flight recorder of the Nostromo was recently located by a ship named the Anesidora and is being held aboard Sevastopol Station, a remote free port space station owned by the Seegson Corporation, in orbit around the gas giant KG348. Samuels offers Amanda a place on the Weyland-Yutani team sent to retrieve it, so that she can have closure regarding the fate of her missing mother.[12][13] Ripley, Samuels, and Weyland-Yutani executive Nina Taylor, travel to Sevastopol on board the courier ship Torrens, owned by Captain Verlaine. The group arrive at Sevastopol to find the station damaged and its communications unreliable. Ripley, Samuels, and Taylor attempt to spacewalk over to the station to investigate, but their EVA line is severed by debris, and Ripley is separated from them and forced to enter the station on her own.

After entering the ship, you can see that the shit hit's the fan. People are trying to survive an infestation of xenomorph aliens. You have to contend with them, the crazy people on board and the androids that have gone batshit nuts as well.

This game is hard. VERY Hard... You have to play by it's rules as well. There is absolutely no "run and gun" bullshit here. You break cover and you're done.
The aliens will be on you like white on rice.

The gameplay is all first person and the graphics are truly beautiful. The main character, (Amanda) is a smoking hot babe and she's is just like her mother.
The crafting system is a little difficult to understand at first but you'll get it after a few levels.
I don't like how you have to back-track a lot in the game but it's a necessary evil I suppose.
The Creative Assembly is the company that developed this game and they did a good job capturing the feel of the original Alien movie...
The technology on board that you deal with is exactly what they showed in said movie... Things like 'Tandy' style computers, tape recorders, cigarette machines, etc. It's all very retro.
The start-up screen is actually the old school 20th Century Fox intro and it looks like you need to adjust the tracking on your VCR.

All in all they did a good job with this game. If you love stealth, this is the game for you. There's a lot of sneaking around, puzzles to solve and things like that. You won't be disappointed at all. I really thought it wasn't going to be my type of game but I'm glad I pushed through and really learned how to play it.
If you plan on picking this one up, wait a little bit for a sale and check out some of the game play on YouTube and see what you think.

This one will keep you busy and it does have some very boring parts to it but all in all, I give it a solid 7.75 in my book. A good time-waster that is best played in short bursts.

So... Been ****ing around on AC Untity now for a while. Their multiplayer options and everything online wasn't operational yesterday and now I know why. They sent out a butt-ton of update patches to fix the glitches.
Some of the glitches were really funny... People in the crowds switching gender, floating, disappearing etc.
I had it crash on me twice yesterday but now it's running very smoothly. I'd recommend buying the disc btw. I can hear my PS4 kinda sweating from info overload. There's a lot to do. Almost too much. Exploring France in the late 1700's is pretty awesome, though.
I'm pretty happy with the game so far.

Hold off... Wait for Xmas deals. It's a great game but it's like most AC games and they need to fix some issues yet.
A little tedious at times, too. It is beautifully done though. The streets of Paris really feel alive.

I'm really looking forward to GTA. I'm trading in my PS3 version because I think it'll be that much better.

I spoke to GameStop's marketing guy here in Omaha and they're trying to put a decent deal together for trade ins. Right now the PS3 version is trading in for 10 bucks. They want to do a 1/2 off deal with trade which will give you about 25-30 bucks off but it doesn't look likely.

They are also talking to me about a couple other things...
Any PS4/Xbone game traded for GTAV will get you some sweet deals.
I dunno if it'll happen or not.

How beautiful is it and where would you rank it?

AC3 was my favorite in the series - Black flag was good too, kinda pissed I traded that in for watch dogs.

There are games I want to trade in for it, far cry 4 and gta but they only offer less then 5, less then 10 for watch dogs, killzone, bf4, etc.

It's really frustrating and I'd rather dish out that lil bit of extra petty cash instead of giving away my whole collection for 1 or 2 games.
