Peacock exclusive playoff game is stupid

Bad move by the league. Quit being greedy and keeping your customers from watching your product.

Surely they wont put Mahomes in that game but who knows.

Uh, it's their model, not something anyone has ever demanded.

Change the model from "free with 50% commercials" to "PPV with ~50% commercials"... of course people aren't going to like it.

The worst people on Earth is still a little strong, poor fantasy grandma starving because she forgot to stop paying peacock six dollars lmao

- nobody cares how this compares to regular season TNF. Anyone with sense knows that these are 2 very different thing
- nobody cares how this compares to last years lower profile wild card games. We do know that 23m is almost half of the 40m the cowboys game pulled in. And that the Saturday wc game with 2 lesser interest teams pulled in a 30m which suggests that free Saturday night football would have destroyed

So yeah it’s no surprised that they got ahead with the pr spin on this one because you can’t tell me they didn’t leave something at least 20m viewers on the table.
My math says about 2 million of the viewers were local. So you're wrong on that point.

Probably not far off, I'd guess 3-4 at most. You're talking 2.5 million-ish people in KC and 6 million in Miami max and you know not everyone in Miami is watching this game on a Saturday night.

The real million dollar mystery is what number NBC was targeting to make it a success. They knew they were going to leave viewers on the table. How many did they need to get to make this all worth it? The factor people aren't considering is everyone who showed up in the ratings watched this on Peacock and had to pay NBC directly, and it's 100% going to them. That may be better than letting twice as many people watch it on antenna or cable companies they don't have control over.

KC had a 45 share and Miami had a 14.5. So just a tick over 2

Another thing to consider is how many viewers were already subscribers, producing no incremental revenue (other than advertising views). There are supposedly 30 million subscribers prior to the Chiefs game, which translates to roughly 75 million people. So probably one-quarter of their viewers just had the TV on as opposed to paying extra.

Beat the team with one of the biggest superstars in sports supported by one of the biggest celebrities in the world by 6M avg viewers. And that’s not including all the bars and the dozens of fans in those bars that chose not to subscribe
It was 23 million streams. Overall it was 26 million viewers when you take Kansas City and Miami markets & the network broadcast numbers.

It seemed like a pretty typical NBC broadcast in terms of advertising breaks from the game. Would imagine they made a pretty good chunk of change on the advertising.

There were no ads during the 4th quarter. They announced it at the beginning of the quarter. Even breaks like the 2 minute warning they didn’t have any, they showed what was happening on the sidelines. On Peacock anyway, don’t know about broadcast.

The shows that ran on NBC in the markets that didn't show the game, dominated viewership.
It was an orgy of money made for NBC.

Next year they'll go after the principled too.
Maybe a nice tele-thon for the halftime show.

Still would think Comcast made pretty good money on the advertising for the first 3 quarters. I wonder how many brand new subscribers paid for Peacock to get this game. I paid $3 for it because we have Comcast’s Xfinity TV service, so they offered a 50% discount.

No, you do not have to register for Streameast. If you did so, you were using a stream that poses as Streameast trying to get your information. There are multiple fake sites that try to pretend to be Streameast. The legit Streameast website will even explain this to you when you connect.
