Clark Hunt Statement

"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.

"However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

"Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the National Football League and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

Just give me more grist for the mill. Like I've said before - losing isn't good enough. With this asshole in charge, I want absolute carnage. I want the Chiefs to challenge 0-16 and lose every game by 14+ points. With Ferentz in house, I'm confident we can manage it.

I have never in my life despised any sports figure like I despise Scott Pioli. I want nothing but pain and anguish to follow that man. When Belcher killed himself, a small part of me took solace in the fact that at least it was one of Scott's boys and not someone like Flowers.

He's warped me on NFL football. All I care about when watching the NFL is the suffering of Scott Pioli and those that count him among their friends, associates or even people that they can stand to be in the same room as.

Dude, WE DO NOT want Ferentz. He's the type of coach that would hover right around .500 and NEVER LEAVE.

Nah. I think Ferentz can take Pioli to the hallowed ground of 0-16 or 1-15.

Yes We Can!

Kirk Ferentz is a True Fan's dream.

He's an offensive line guru and understands defense up front.

He's a worst case scenario, just good enough to stay for 10 years, not good enough to win a championship.

Laughingstocks make you LAUGH.

Anybody that gets embarrassed because they root for a team is taking it too seriously.

There has to be a degree of embarassment, or 'rooting' is a completely worthless enterprise.

Rooting means you have assessed the situation and deemed this endeavor worthy of your interest. Rooting for the Chiefs means you know shit-all about the NFL, no two ways about it.

OK, long day of meetings.. ****! (Fine time for a fiscal cliff drill!!!) Anyway, do the Chiefs have any contractual obligations that require the Chiefs to allow him to make important decisions? If not, and all he gets is a guaranteed amount, I'd say that they can indeed put him in a cube in the basement and make him HMFIC of gum wrapper patrol. And his game-day $8M can be to patrol various parts of the stadium picking up trash. It's not much for $8M, but it's better than letting anybody even remotely think he's got any connection to football operations.

Wen the team is this bad, rooting is a completely worthless enterprise anyway.

Zero expectations = zero disappointment.

Maybe it's my memories of chuckles under my breath when I saw there was a dedicated Bengals or Lions TV at the sports bar in years past.

My last comment (for the time being) on the Billick-Cowher debate is this:

The first broke dick won his lone SB with an historic defense. This is exactly the model that we've argued against, countless times, when people attempt to mitigate the need for a franchise QB.

The second broke dick won his lone SB when he drafted a young, franchise QB. This single draft pick outweighs the entire draft record of the Ravens because Big Ben has gone on to win another SB and has consistently put PITT in the championship discussion because of his presence.

The Cowher SB model is repeatable. The Billick model, while repeatable, is far more difficult to obtain.

Finally, yes it was fortuitous that PITT was in position to select Roethlisberger, but they still had to have the good sense and balls to make the pick. Attributes the Chiefs haven't possessed since '83.

If the Chiefs select Smith and he ends up being what we think he can be, we won't look back on the pick and say the team fell ass backwards into the pick because we know how vehemently some have attempted to disparage the player and argue for franchise (insert less important position).
