Let’s find ways to get this guy and DOD on the field together as often as possible... those two with Hitchens in the middle of base sets sounds like a good start

Staff seems to love this guy already. Good deal

6. Patrick Mahomes has looked like, well, Patrick Mahomes early in Chiefs OTAs, but a lot of what’s around him has changed. And so far, two guys have stood out with strong springs, one new and another sort of new: Darron Lee on defense and Sammy Watkins on offense. Lee’s range to make plays in the passing game and defend sideline-to-sideline in the run game is already apparent, and would fill a big void. Watkins, meanwhile, has flashed the explosiveness that made him such a tantalizing prospect coming out of Clemson five years ago. So while a lot of people have focused on rookie Mecole Hardman as a potential replacement for Tyreek Hill, should the Chiefs need one, Watkins has the look of a guy now who could be pretty important in that regard.

Having the best QB in the NFL tends to bring stuff like that out in other players.

Both guys are blue chippers IF they can stay healthy. That's really the only issue.

I think Watkins was good last year when healthy, health will always be the issue.

But I worry that some of this is just the Chiefs staff blowing smoke to take some heat off Tyreek and such.

Nah, I noticed it on Watkins workout videos before that reports even came out. He’s definitely in great shape.

Has that ever been a real issue with him though?

It's always been a question about injuries which is something we won't really find out until the season starts.

When he was healthy last year with Mahomes, he was really good so it's not a question of that for me, just if he can stay on the field.

I’m not saying it’s been an issue and I agree that it’s a matter of health, but physically he does look to be in fantastic shape.

Foot issues are a bitch. They linger and linger and can take forever to fully heal.

I bet he was just recently fully healed from his foot injury last season.

Back to Lee...

He has the ability to be a game changing blue chip player. Very few LB’s have his type of athletic ability. Add to that his coverage ability that he showed last year.

If all goes well and he becomes that type of player he’s got the potential of being, Veach would need to lock that guy up, even if it meant taking the loss for Hitchens.

There's just a lot of similarity at LB. Lee, DOD, Hitchens all seem to be WLB's and the rest are kinda meh.
