Is anyone else now uninterested in the Chiefs' past?

As I bask in the sunshine of the Mahomes era, I find myself far less interested in the past. I don't care about past playoff losses, I don't fret about past quarterbacks, and Herman Edwards can talk about whatever he wants. The current Chiefs have no relation to the past, and I find myself living in the present and looking forward to the future. I like this new life of mine.

I realize now that nearly every playoff game in my memory has been mid-level teams squabbling for table scraps. We lost to the Colts? Who cares? Neither team was going anywhere anyway. I have released my anger.

Matt Cassel? Who cares? It's the past. He's gone. We have a franchise quarterback.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

Not interested now but you bet your ass I will be in our first playoff game.

I can’t help it. This franchise has given me sports PTSD. Need to see us beat a real playoff team to buy in.

This too. I want to see KC in it every year, and the fewer Wildcard games the better. A s*** ton of first-round byes followed up with victory after victory after victory is what it's going to take to make this 100 o/o real and not a flash in the pan.

I can’t believe there is a Rain Man poll fail, but there is.

A lot of nuance goes into my fandom and reflection on the history also is layered.

My perception of the great players and plays hasn’t changed. I love greatness.

My perception of curses wasn’t as deep as a lot of guys here but it’s virtually nonexistant now.

My perception of the more successful times has dulled because I now feel like we can beat anybody for the first time in my fandom. I’m down to remembering the great players from those times.

However, the frustration of the massive ineptitude is even more maddening as this era goes on. Sure. It’s hard to win a Bowl. It’s also hard to be abysmal and we did it for almost a ****ing decade. A good faith effort will keep you off the bottom. And we couldn’t do it. ****.

Not me...their cheating cost KC a legitimate chance at a SB. I want that franchise to burn into a smoldering pile of ash...and be bottom dwellers/NFL afterthoughts for a decade. It wast enough to cheat the cap...but then double down on a QB doped up HGH.

Everything is changed so much. The league has gotten to the point where if you don't have a great quarterback or at least a good quarterback and a super team around him, you're not going to get anything done.

Basically, we straight up lucky ****tarded the lottery and I'll take it. Lil' Chiefy rammed his inept little pecker into a slot machine and made it rain ****tarded Glory For All.

When Alex and Sutton lost the playoff game last year, I wasn't as distraught as I was the other 3 playoff losses the last 5 years. Because I knew Mahomes was coming.

Mahomes is the cursebreaker. Mahomes is the God-King. Mahomes will lead us to the Superbowl this year. Who cares about the past.

Nothing about Carl and Herm or Pioli or anyone who isn’t here today affects this team, so no. Not interested in pretending the team is somehow jinxed because a bunch of people who are long gone didn’t get over the hump.

You need to understand the past in order to appreciate the present and be excited for the future.

If not, you just don't get it.

This is a very insightful observation and question. I, too, am less interested in past Chiefs history.

People act like Arrowhead is haunted and that we should manage the team accordingly.

“Why should we sell out and trade everything to load up for this one season?” “Well because we haven’t (really) won a playoff game in so long!”

That has **** all to do with this group of players and this coaching staff and this front office. Some people think we should run the team scared, because Kicker Who Shall Remain Nameless, like it’s all going to go up in smoke after this year when the ghosts of the past continue to haunt us.

If you want to reference Reid’s history over the last 20 years that’d be valid, but it’s way past time to lay aside the whimpering over things that happened 20 or 30 years ago to people who are long gone, unless you go around in life terrified of jinxes and curses, stepping on sidewalk cracks and such

The 2018 Chiefs are objectively not ready because of the defense but the future is bright. Relax people.

Indeed, it was a glorious sight, one I hope to see many, many more times. I can remember watching that game in the student union and going wild. I only wish I could have joined the crowds in KC. And just FTR, it was 1970, not 1969.
