Can we win a Super Bowl with Alex Smith?

Not in 2015, necessarily. Just a general question, really.

I know there is a definite line drawn in the sand on this subject here and I want to know if there is a general consensus one way or the other. I'm kinda on the fence about it...but I'm leaning towards no.

If we get the OL to block as a top ten unit. The receivers grow into a top ten unit and the backs and tight ends are also top ten...paired with the defense being similar to last year (maybe a hair better) is Alex Smith a guy that can help the team win it all?

Of course, this would mean we would get a break here and there in the postseason.

Of course. He would be far from the worst QB to win a SB.

Not in the next two years, with the way the team is currently assembled. That is his window.

Why the next 2 years?

This is one of the youngest teams in the NFL.

I will give you that. But for anyone to say they cant win one with him with our defense and some breaks here and there and luck down the stretch is just out there.

I'm kinda surprised the yes votes are taking the early lead.

When I posted this, I thought it would be a runaway of no votes.

Not it's not. Alex isn't even as good as Flacco.

If pigs fly in the next two years and we field the #1 defense, I guess it's possible.

Yes.

Yes, but he needs not just top 10, but top 3 defense.
He needs not just top 10, but top 5 O-Line.
He WR needs top 10 corps.
And he needs Jamaal to be Jamaal.

Bottom line.
He needs the best team in the league.

You think Mark Rypien, Jim McMahon, Jeff Hostetler, Brad Johnston, Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer were so much better. I dont and I think many of that list is not as good. Hell I might even throw in Plunket.
