So I'm hopping a freighter to China...
Well, actually Vietnam. But I'll make a stop in China.

It just seemed like the thing to do. I'm in Oakland now waiting as they load cargo. I'm the only passenger on a 1,000 foot ship for the next 19 days.

Here's my ship: http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/...:CMA_CGM_RHONE. I got whisked aboard before I could take an exterior photo.

Since I'm the only passenger, I get the owner's cabin on the top deck. Here are a few pictures of my cabin area. I also have the use of a lounge on another floor, and I can share the crew's gym.

So if anybody needs me, I won't be around for the next few weeks as I sail my private 1,000 foot yacht across the Pacific.

Enjoy the dried fish its a Filipino favorite kinda peasant food. It smells god awful I wont eat it but my wife loves it.

And for god sakes dont let them go off course thru the Bermuda Triangle. You may wake up to the Battle of Iron Bottom Sound of WWII.

Wow, this sounds intense. I think the longest I was ever out to sea at a shot was about the same amount of time (it sucked, BTW). Of course, when you're out to sea on a Navy vessel basically all you do is work and sleep, with a little spades thrown in. I hope you don't get bored easily.

Bobbymitch is right about the night sky. You'll never see anything like it on land.

As for your destinations, I was an east coast sailor, so I've never been anywhere near the Orient.

I spent 17 days pulling guard duty on a merchant marine ship from Savannah GA to Saudi Arabia back in 1990. Accommodations sucked ass.

Lost an engine and lost a couple days at sea so we ran out of fresh water. For the last 3 days or so we could flush the toilet 2x a day to conserve water (it was turned off the rest of the time) and there were 5 guys staying in a room made for 2.

You can imagine the carnage.

I did get to see the Straights of Gibraltar and the Suez Canal which was cool. The rest sucked ass. So glad I didn't join the Navy.
