@Jacobs71: Alex Smith looked sharp today. The accuracy and deep ball were there. Smith looks like he picked up where he left off in Indy.

@HerbieTeope: When Chiefs lined up with first-team offensive line during 11-on-11, Rishaw Johnson was at right guard.
@HerbieTeope: With Eric Fisher (shoulder) resting, Donald Stephenson moved from RT to LT, Jeff Linkenbach filled in at RT. @Jacobs71: Donnie Avery caught a deep ball for a TD today. Fasano beat DJ for a TD today. @Jacobs71: Jamaal Charles had a couple of burst today. He looked good out of the flats. @Jacobs71: Knile Davis worked today. He participated fully and looked healthy in drills/team today. @Jacobs71: Richard Gordon had the catch of the day out of the flats. Bray threw a laser. Gordon reached out and caught it one handed. Fantastic catch.

@TerezPaylor: OK. So based on my (crude) calculations, if the #Chiefs make Flowers a post-June 1 cut they can save $7.5 mil this year AND next year.

I would imagine they're trying to wait and see if they can get something in a trade, like maybe a mid-round pick.
I don't think Flowers plays another snap with the Chiefs, to be honest. |

Good news on Alex. Bad news on Kelce. Wtf man, you've had over a year to recover and you are still struggling?

Microfracture surgery is the equivalent of ACL surgery in 1964.

@adamteicher: For those wondering, Chiefs would save $3,5 million against their salary cap by trading Flowers or releasing him before June 1

Still struggling? It's the first ****ing day of OTAs! He has to get extensively evaluated and then worked in slowly.

Well then the question could be: Would you rather save $3.5 million and get a mid-round pick (probably a 3rd at the highest), or save $7.5 million without draft compensation?
Honestly, if the $4 million could help get a Smith & Houston extension done, I think I'd go that route. We're going to have all 7 of our picks next year plus a couple of compensatory picks. Houston is a known commodity and I think we need to pay the man. |

They save another $4MM after June 1 - which may have played into their thinking.
