Chiefs holding vote for new TD song

The Chiefs tried this shit years ago and it didn't work because the fans got pissed. I'm guessing this is once again revolving around Gary Glitter being a pedo piece of shit and the Chiefs wanting to distance themselves from that.

http://www.kcchiefs.com/tdsongvote/

You can select from:
1) “Hey, Kansas City!” by David George & A Crooked Mile
2) “Song 2” by Blur
3) "Let Me Clear My Throat" by DJ Kool

I guess Song 2 by Blur is the best of the bunch.

Voting ends 31 August.

[QUOTE=DaneMcCloud;11731824]NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

ASCAP or BMI or SESAC collects revenue from television and Live performances in the United States.

There is an upfront fee that's required when synchronizing to Film or TV (Sync Fee) which isn't applied in this case.

Every venue that plays music in the US is required (although some businesses refuse) to pay a Performing Rights Society a fee, which is based on their size and number of people per month, a small fee. But that fee covers EVERY song played, not just a single song.

I can't even fathom how you came to this ridiculous conclusion. I'm at a loss, completely.[/QUOT

You focus upon mechanics. I am focusing upon principles. If you posted a question about an auto accident and wondered how much you owed the other driver, that is a legitimate question. The actual mechanics, though, would involve your insurance company paying the other driver's insurance company, which had paid the individual parties, such as the ambulance, the tow truck driver, etc. the principle is the same, though. You owe the other driver irrespective of who is actually contractually obliged to pay each individual person.

If you owe restitution for a criminal judgment, you owe that person. In reality, though, the money is generally paid to the court system which then distributes the money to the actual party owed the money.

The mechanics are not important. Whoever does the collecting is irrelevant. If A owes B $ and B hires C to collect, A does not owe C money. Rather, A pays C money because A owes the money to B irrespective of how the money is actually distributed. C cannot sue A to get the money because A does not owe C anything. In legal terms, C has no standing to sue unless the contract between B and C give C standing to sue.

So KC owes the copyright holder money for performing the song. The copyright holder usually employs a collector. So what? It does not affect the basic legal obligation. And from a public relations perspective, it really does not matter whether the copyright holder uses a collection agency or not, nor does it really matter if Glimmer just gets basic performance royalties. The majority of people see that a kiddy diddler is getting some money from what they pay for tickets. No company wants to be in that situation. Just look at Subway.

I don't understand IP either but definitely take your word for it since you work in the business.

Note to everyone. Don't argue with Dane on legal issues within the music industry. He knows more than you do about it.

Okay, I just listened to it. You people are ****ing spazzing over nothing. That is not the most horrid thing ever, and I would imagine that if I were good and plowed, I'd be jamming right along.

Now, if Iron Maiden would do a cover...

Yeah, when I first heard it last month I downright hated it. But the more I heard it the more I felt we could still put the TD chant in there. Now that they have done that I'm fine with it.

It's fine, jeeez. For everyone who says we hate change, this is a change that really isn't any different. And Dave George is a local KC guy, from what I've read. So, just relax FFS.

Honestly, it's way better than I thought it would be. As I said earlier, if we're kickin' Donkey ass tonight, it'll be a huge hit.
