Just curious how you feel about Rice and his friends putting however-many lives at risk with their stupidity when you seem to have a zero tolerance for drunk driving? This is not me being a dick, by the way. I’m just asking.
I feel it was a stupid decision to drive the way they did and if I would have been on that road and witnessed them driving that way I would have called the cops. He should be punished for reckless driving which to my knowledge is a misdemeanor and he will serve a short suspension from the NFL. That is good enough for me.

Janx bringing up rape, murder, etc....is just ****ing stupid, but it's what I've come to expect from some wannabe farmer that ****s goats in his spare time.

Supercar means a lot other than Rice having more money than I do.

A Lambo racing another super car doing 90+ on a crowded freeway is vastly different from a Civic doing 85 on an open highway.

You can't go from 60 to 100 in 2 seconds in a Civic. There is a reason you don't see Honda Civics competing against Supercars in any race ever.

Oh, and now we're going to go with "Almost half an ounce of weed" in some attempt to create a scare quote? FFS, someone left an oversized joint in the cushions. Yes, that's FIRMLY 'in the margins'.
Was it a scare quote or was it a response to your "working the margins" comment? Half an ounce isn't "an oversized joint". Hell, it isn't even an oversized blunt. Also, in Texas, it shouldn't have been in the car at all.

Quote:
The difference between your example -- using a shoulder to pass in a motorcycle -- and 'a 6 car pileup' is a matter of execution and not sound decision-making. If anything, the motorcycle is far more dangerous to the rider than the incident with Rice.
Incorrect. I have ridden on the shoulder because of a pileup specifically because it was safer to both me and the motorcycle (air cooled). I've watched enough videos of people driving full speed into stopped traffic to know that isn't where I want to be while on a motorcycle.

Quote:
It emphasizes my point precisely. People attempt that pass on the shoulder with some regularity and a great deal many of them fail to execute it. Some die for their efforts.
You missed the point. Completely. I'm not riding on the shoulder because I think it is cool to pass people that are stopped on a motorway. I'm not doing it to "stunt". I'm riding on the shoulder because I don't want to get splatted by someone not expecting stopped traffic on a highway. I'm riding on the shoulder because the bike will overheat if I stay there.

/actual real life example from my 5k mile ride a few years ago

Quote:
The decisionmaking process there isn't any better. Only the outcome. And you want to have it both ways - harping on what might have been in Rice's case and ignoring it in the instance of the motorcycle on the shoulder.
Yeah... it is. There was thought put into my action before taking it. A cautious weighing of circumstances, possibilities, and possible results/consequences.

Holy **** you can't read can you. You still actually think I was comparing the crimes and not your statement that it isn't a big deal because of how common it is.

You made a stupid point and you are still trying to back it up. Your a functional reerun who has the ability to type. If it was just about how common something was, why not bring up crimes like Jaywalking, shoplifting, public urination, etc... You typed rape and murder to try to make it seem like what Rice did was on that level.

One thing you have to enjoy about Janx, no matter how ridiculous he is being, when it gets pointed out to him it doesn't stop him from going even farther into reerunville.

Nobody is claiming this is a parking ticket scenario, most people just realize its being way overblown considering what actually happened and understanding what could have happened actually has no bearing on his punishment.

We can clear that up REAL quick by my stating that I do not believe that in any way shape or form was what Rice did on that level of Murder or Rape... though it is certainly, IMO, on the same level as Burglary and Assault (which I also mentioned but you left off).

My point stands. I refute your statement that the frequency with which it happens makes it "not a big deal". Regardless of the legal (charges), professional (suspension) or economic (lawsuits) outcome of it all... this is a life altering/defining moment in this man's life as a human, as a professional athlete, and as a Chief. This is in every sense of the word "a big deal".

I understand the desire for him to escape punishment because of who he is and what he means to the success of the team. I do. I understand how we could interpret the laws in TX differently... hell, people versed in law disagree on the interpretations of the laws every day in court.

Stepping back from that... this kid ****ed up. Do I personally think he needs to go to prison for this? No one but the people in the car have enough information to say. Per legal council... I'm sure the police have gotten a very filtered via lawyer version of the events of that evening. I do, though, think most of us wouldn't have had the luxury of going home and having a lawyer speak on our behalf after several days. He got lucky he didn't kill someone or Brett Reid someone's kid.

Do I think he needs to be held accountable in some fashion? Absolutely.

Again... and hopefully it will sink in this time.

Mother ****ers are fighting with ME.

LoneWolf stated that this wasn't a big deal because of how often it happens. I disagreed with him. He purposely continues to misunderstand what I am saying, even after it has been laid out for him in bold red letters, and makes it about my choosing to include rape and murder (while ignoring battery and assault) as examples of things happening all the time not making them ok and frames it like I'm trying to make what he did worse than it is while ignoring my actual point (again... which I even put in big red letters for him).

DJ is trying to make it a jealousy thing that Rice has money and I don't or some dumb shit. He says that there is no difference between a supercar and a ****ing civic. He compared 11.6 grams of weed to an overfilled joint which, BTW, isn't it funny that blunts tend to use around 2-2.5 grams of weed and 11.6 grams is just one blunt shy of being a full half zip? Lastly, his statement that a motorcycle taking the shoulder during a pileup on a highway is the same decision making process Rice had that night.

Mother ****ers are twisting themselves sideways trying to minimize this and purposefully misunderstand so they have someone to yell at... and it is ****ing stupid.

It isn't "not a big deal". It is a big deal.

Not since a day or two after the event. It has devolved into Romper Room material.
