I guess that if Ohio State beats Oregon, you'll still be arguing that they don't deserve a playoff spot?
At the time the decisions were made, the only argument that tOSU had over TCU was that they had a conference championship game.

Using a game that happened afterwards to rationalize their decision at that time is disingenuous at best.

Like I say, "dumb fan" effect. You admit they weren't very good, but turn right around and say they belonged. Insanity.

You've made clear that "wins and losses don't mean shit" to you, and you'd much rather watch a computer simulation than an actual football contest, but let's not pretend that the rest of the nation is as ****ed up as yourself. What happens on the field is what makes sports great.
If the 59-20 ass rape of FSU didn't convince you that your logic on "wins" isn't nonsense, nothing will.

Yes, dumb fans like to actually see what happens on the field.

Angry basement troll like to look at computer printouts of who is better.

TCU won 11 games and had exactly one win over a ranked team coming into the bowls. Three of their wins were by 4 or fewer points.

Ohio State had 12 wins with two of them over ranked teams. Every win Ohio State had was by at least 7 points.

By your own admission, what you saw from them "on the field" led you to the conclusion they weren't very good. Yet you still wanted them in. That's some hilarious logic there buddy.

2) All those who are bemoaning folks who "root for a conference" and claiming to be above it are lying. Across the nation, as well as in this thread, those very people give themselves away by cheering the Alabama loss, or for the TCU win. Let's face it, a good conference helps all teams. While I want my to to win, it also benefits the program I root for when other teams in the conference my team is in are successful. It was this way when my team was in the Big 8, the Big XII, and now the SEC.
3) the SEC is still probably the best conference, but regardless, they are still the conference to beat. Look at all the crowing about the SEC after Alabama's loss. There's a reason for that. You celebrate when you beat the king of the hill. You don't tear down the goalposts for beating a nobody (well... sorry kansas), and the reveling this morning is the rest of college football being excited for beating one of the tops of the best conference in the country. It makes the sport great!
Excellent post!

The purpose of football games is to win...not to manipulate computers into thinking that your losses are somehow better than other teams' wins.

The committee is also not tasked with trying to guess what teams' resumes would look like if a call went this way or that way a few weeks ago.

No, it makes much more sense to tell teams, "hey guys, go play, and win all your games if you want, but... well, honestly wins don't mean shit. We'll let you know in December if the computers say you're any good."

Hell, we should just not let them play games at all. let's just have an all computer simulation college football season!

Wait, so committee members aren't tasked with overturning calls made by the officials? Fascinating...

The committee didn't put the 4 best teams in the playoff which was their mandate.

But keep bitching about the Big 12 and being a conference cheering douche. It's a good look.
Weren't you the one bitching and moaning about how Ohio St was going to be down by 28 by half and what a joke they were to be in over TCU? What's your explanation for that epic prediction??
