Late night bullshit: It's time to give the Chiefs my balls.

My game balls.

Win 1 (Dolphins): Knile Davis. Charles was out, we were reeling at 0-2, and Davis put the offense on his back, carrying the ball 34 times.

Win 2 (Patriots): Marcus Cooper, Justin Houston, Ron Parker, Chris Owens, Sean Smith, Husain Abdullah, Tamba Hali, and Josh Martin. All these players at one point or another dropped back into coverage against the Patriots' primary weapons of Julian Edelman and Ron Gronkowski. Between them, they gained a TOTAL of 50 yards COMBINED.

Win 3 (Chargers): Cairo Santos. Alex Smith comes close for a tough, smart performance on the road, but Santos went 3-for-3, including a career-long game-winner that finally suggested we were right in cutting Ryan Succop.

Win 4 (Rams): Justin Houston. So much of 2014's defense depends on what Houston, Hali, Poe, and Bailey do up front while everybody else drops. Nobody did more than Houston, who corralled 3 sacks and ruined Joe Barksdale all day.

The reason I think this is pretty cool to go over is because there's a certain charm in a team where nearly anybody can be instrumental in winning. While it's probably better for a team's championship aspirations to have a QB who can be every game's MVP like Rodgers or Manning, it's at least very entertaining to see different guys step up on this squad.

Fun team to watch play, this year.

Applause to Reid for shifting to a 50/50 run/pass attack this year, at least so far. Applause to Sutton for changing the defensive scheme to maximize the passrushing talent we have on this team. Applause to Alex Smith for not losing games (and in the case of San Diego, he was truly critical in winning). And applause to Dorsey for outflanking the amateurs on this site with some truly great pickups across the board -- free agency, draft picks, and the scrap heap pickups especially have almost all been impressive.

I suggest Knile Davis gets one for the Rams game. His KO return gave the Chiefs a 10 point, electrified the crowd, and set the tone for the rest of the game.

The 4-3 Chiefs lost the next nine games because the entire engine of their offense (Larry Johnson) went down with a broken ankle against the Packers. I remember that game vividly -- AJ Hawk landed on it.

The Chiefs this year are in the driver's seat for a 9-7 record, so long as they beat the teams they're supposed to beat and stay in the games against tough opponents. They've got a legit shot at 10-6 and a playoff trip.

At that point, Playoffs Alex Smith activates, and hopefully half our team doesn't go down with injury.

We chose to stop running on San Francisco. That's Andy Reid's bad, not the run games inability.

We were running competently on them until Reid stopped.

We didn't run on Tennessee. Or Denver.

The Tennessee game is a completely outlier of this season. Feel free to shit all over that game, nobody here is going to defend it.

As for Denver, MM has it right.

The Chiefs can run on anyone.
