I just caught a replay out of the corner of my eye - was that foul in the box on Ivory Coast legit?

Who had Greece moving on?

Ghana players are threatening a boycott and might not play there game against Portugal. IF and a big if this were to happen the US would have to lose by 6 to Germany.

Portugal gets a 3-0 win if that occurs, I believe. So the US would have to not lose by 3.

Yeah, he clearly hit Greece's left leg as Greece was about to strike (Greece then kicks his own leg).
Not the best selection on this gif; I thought there was more obvious angle shown on TV.

I'm sure everyone had the Costa Rica/Greece match penciled in with one of them making the final 8.

Great league you have on your hands.
You should watch the latest HBO Real Sports episode that is on tonight. FIFA is ripe with match fixing and 35% of all European players have been approached or part of match fixing. They even created a fake team.. MLS could now have players or refs fixing games.

Really? Would that hurt the game? If its that rampant, does the average fan already know that some games are fixed?

That's a penalty, to me. Obviously a foul and it definitely denied a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Didn't see the segment. 35% stands out as a huge number. But that number is from all of the leagues and all of the divisions of those leagues in all the world. There's probably a lot of match fixing in, like, the 2nd level of the Tunisian league or something like that. The top leagues from the top nations? Not so much.

According to the head of FIFA security it is rampant in all leagues and nearly 400 European soccer games are under investigation for match fixing.

The report charges that many fixes are at high level, including matches in the Champion League in England and World Cup-qualifying showdowns.

"Real Sports" reporters spent many weeks in Italy, which the program contends is one of the cornerstones of the match- fixing scandal.

Not many places are more corrupt than Italy...

Serie A is the one top league where match fixing can believably go down. I'm sure it happens there. It's also the league with the most violent & racist fans. There's lots of reasons I don't watch Serie A.
